400MH globe only lasted 1 day...?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I've got a 400w MH high bay light that I had done a remote ballast conversion to (thanks cannaversity), and it came with the standard issue 4200k globe. I've tested it and it is all working fine. I ordered a growlush Globe which arrived yesterday, tested it and all good. But I just got home from work to find my cupboard in complete darkness. I removed the globe and refitted the original globe, which fired straight up.

What gives? I retried the new globe, to make sure it was tight enough, I haven't touched the glass at all with bare skin, the inside glass bit is still a white/clear colour, not brown or black.

Any ideas? Should I have spent more on the globe in the first place? Surely I should get more than 1 day out of the thing...?

is it going all the way in ? just make sure the little tab at the back of the ballast is still sticking out , put your finger in and pull it out a little . I have had globes a little shorter than usual and the tab at the back didnt make contact fully with the bottom of the globe

apart from that , lots of bad stuff on grow lush globes , including lower yields when used for the whole grow . they are very cheap ........

hes right sometimes the little tab gets bent down but if your going to go sticking your finger in there please make sure the ballast is unplugged and let it sit for a few hrs as the ballast can hold charge

i dunno know who makes Grow Lush but i did try one and IMO, it was cheap sure, but short-lived followed by inferior light that it generated so bad to the point i could see the plants growth slow ... this was sometime ago

even so you surely should get a month or two out them one would think , id go back to place of purchase and complain bitterly ...

now i try to get globes that have been made in European countries like phillips SonT , ge lucagrow , they used to have written on them Belgium or whereever they were made, paid more but always been extra happy with them

guess the quality of the light is paramount not the price when we are trying to replicate Ra, the mighty Sun

:peace:
