Time of year to put outside?

Recommended Posts

Im up in the sub-tropical part of oz. So what do you guy's reckon bout up here. If planting out now would they go to flower soon or keep on growing till next season?

I've heard fella's saying u can grow year round in oz providing alright temps. You just start them inside then chuck them out once there at the size u want and they should start flowering as the shock from 18hrs down to say 13.5hrs which is bout average day length for the whole year. Obviously summer gets up to 14hrs and winter down to 11hrs. ??? :pardon:

Depends how far north you are. I am in the subtropics also and am growing now. I have one plant flowering that I planted in early March and several others that I planted in April. The later plants are growing, but slowly. Indica would be the best strain to grow at the moment, but there is a chance that they will go to flower when they get big enough. So far so good. I will let you know what happens.I am doing this as an experiment in the subtropics just to see how they grow because I to have been told you can grow year round. My only worry is that the light spectrum of the sun will be different now than in the summer......good luck

hi all,

Im new to Oz stoners, and a total novice too boot!! :pardon: Im very interested in hearing anything anyone has to tell me about planting on/after the winter solstice, is it the best time to plant outdoors if you want to try a winter grow? Is it better to plant then because the days get longer from then on? and is there any significance concerning the moon and planting now? any advice or info would be greatly appreciated lol oh almost forgot, Southeast QLD is my locale,

and whilst i know nothing about growing poppies at all, my housemate does. It just so happens that he had 100's of the little pretties germinate last week and they seem to be going really well, just thought i would mention it :db:

As for the poppies, I have done both, pre-winter sowing and a spring sowing. Both with the same seeds from a P.Somni Gigantium and found my plants to be almost double in size when sown in the pre-winter time. They are sort of like garlic in a sense, with exception of being a bulb, but the pre-winter sowing germinated just before the first frost, then sort of died back and I thought all was lost until spring kicked in and they pretty much outgrew the size of my standard height timber fence. It was completely experimental, so for that I used the same seeds from the same plant genetics, tried to keep soil as close to the same condition as possible for both grows and only fertilizer used was seasol and powerfeed.

As for cannabis, I know everyone has their favorite routine as to when and not trying to break toes with anyone but just thought I would add my schedule reminder for when to plant cannabis outdoors. I start mine indoors then move them outside around Melbourne Cup time, then anticipate harvesting close to Mothers Day.

**EDIT** forgot to mention that my grow knowledge is based on Victorian Climate
