Cheech
I'm just about to get ready to plant. Can someone tell me how much compost I should put into the ground. I was thinking about 1/4-1/3 compost and the rest of the soil an equal mixture between potting mix and the soil at the site. Is this too much? notgail
I love my compost - depends on What sort of compost - bought compost like mushroom or home made compost. I don't like potting mix - but if you haven't got your own home compost think about making one - I just moved and that was one of the first things I wanted - everything that breaks down - give your bin a miss and throw on compost. If you are using pot mix - I'd go 1/4 potting mix the rest well broken down compost, fert and soil from site. I recently bought some mushroom compost way too fresh and way too strong - plants hated it. Had some enormous mushrooms though pop up though. Cheech
I've got homemade compost and sheep manure to go into my soil. I'm planting on a hill with average soil (loamy on the top, but clay down about 1 foot). How much of each should I add? Is there anything else that I should add with it? cheerscheech
