Tell ya what, the "Americanisation" of this bloody great country was more obvious in that bust than anything I've seen thus far. Did you get a load of the American style raid with cops like soldiers with automatic rifles and shit?

 

Fuck this country is going the wrong way. Why would you look at the most fucked up, up tight, "got it wrong in every way" country like America, and emulate it?

 

Just what we need now is cops armed like soldiers!!??!!

 

I suppose we'll be having tanks knock the front door in like they do in the land of the free too?

Not to want to labour a point (I'm not known to); I watched a doco tonight regarding Iraq's Sadam Hesein capture. I'm quiet sure they said that aprox. 200 soldiers were used in the operation to capture him, thus was the seriousness of the operation.

 

Alternaively, a rather large crop of dope, but by no means leader of a totalitarian, violent army, was raided by an equivalent number of armed soldiers in NSW. Against all the resistance a few stoned smokers could muster. None.

 

The poor bloody growers are going to have the image of that outraegously exagerated raid burned into the magistrate's imagination when sentencing them. It was just plain over the top.

I don't know the specifics of what you're talking about, you're probably right, but personally I prefer police to operate in large numbers. Some young hot head is less likely to panic and do something stupid. Also, bad situations with cops tend to happen when there is only one or two of them involved. With a group of them you can be fairly sure you're not going to get beaten or sprayed for no good reason.

 

Just my opinion, I've never been beaten up by a cop so what would I know.
