g'day flame boy.

are ya gonna grow in pots or in the ground?

its always best to add nutients to soil before plantin. especially if growing in groundinto

what i use is this fert called terrasphosca complete t.e. it is extracted from seaweed and blood and bone extract. totally organic it has an npk of 11 4 8

it can be applied as little as a week before planting, without burning. a 40 kg bag will cost around 25 bux. you have to buy it this way. but you'll prob won't have to buy it again for years :D

i also add 500 gr of dolomite lime to keep ph at around neutral. because of added salts, i expect a rise in ph.

i also add:

sulphate of imonia

potassium sulphate

super phosphate.

a monthly nitrogen tea in veg and potassium teas during flowering will benefit greatly.

you'll need to leech out the chems with straight water for the last 2 weeks of flowering. if ya don't it will taste like shit and prob burn ya mouth.

I also like to mulch my plants. you'll want a depth of about 4 inches. Not only does this double your water retention but will break down, adding extra nutrients to your plants.

anyway..best of luck with ya grow man ;)

Pots are most excellent, but depending on the strain and how big you plan to grow them, you may need quite a large pot in the end if growing under the great nuclear hid. ;) Still, much more mobile than a plant in the ground. The advantages to a ground grown plant are that it has no transplant shock, the temps at root zone are more stable, and there is more room to move for the roots, and generally, the larger and healthier the root system the better for the plant.

But yeah, pots are great, they'd prob be the best way to go. Just make sure you have adequate drainage in your mix, and like wade said, use some dolomite to maintain ph if you're using chemical salt form soluble fertilisers.

Check out the Growfaq and the search function if you need some more info, there's a goldmine of info in these forums if you have a look around a bit. Always easier to get a direct reply, but you may well find exactly the answers you're looking for have already been answered before, and there for you to find and learn from.

Hope you grow well, and that you find what you're looking for here. Take it easy flame boy, and don't forget to show us some luscious pics of your plants when they get growing eh? :D
