outdoor growing

Recommended Posts

Hi, new member of the forum and going to start an outdoor grow from bag seed. To be honest I am not after huge yields as these will be for personal use and was wondering if it would be an idea to use small pots to purposely restrict growth?

A secondary reason for stunting growth is stealth, i have a few good spots for a few plants that will get plenty of sun but if the plants grow any more than 4 to 5 feet they may be seen easily.

Myabe its an idea to to start adding blooming mix when they reach an ideal height to force on flowerin? Any ideas?

Hey mate and good luck on starting the grow.

yes plant growth and yield will be restricted by pot size, im currently in a similar solution, although not as concerned about height, but just for personal smoke. Also rather than pot size, put them in big pots, but top the plants and tie the branches down and train them for width not height, there are many guides in here as to how to do this.

And as far as i know using a flowering nute wont actually force flowering, although i may be wrong.

Anyway best of luck with the grow mate

hello gargano.

using small pots too restrict root growth is a very very bad idea, there are many ways to keep your plants smaller, the main one is not using the full season, if you plant your seeds now you we're more than likely get fairly short plants, especially if those plants are indica dominant.

That is another too smaller plants, using short and stout indica species instead of long lanky sativas, sativas are big trees (you can tell them by the skinnier leaves) and indicas are usually small shrubs, 1m x 1m or so often. The later in the season you plant them the smaller they will be, the season strats when the first frosts have ended.

outdoor plants will start to flower in summer, due to the daylength as weekprik has said, there is no way to force the flowering of an outdoor plant unless you can somehow block out all light from it for 12hrs a day, pretty impossible.

Anyway go plant your plants out now, plant em in the ground, if they get to tall tie them down to the ground with string. But if you plant them now they wont get too tall anyways.

Good luck

..Yeah, small pots = bad idea agreed...... Tying down is a great idea, a bit of work...but worth it....just don't get seen there 2 often at peak periods........ Starting indoors, working 2 large pots is great, cause when U put them ouside mid-late summer, after 18/6 as a largish plant...they flower fairly fast. :D Edited by ThcAholic
