preferred indoor hydro chamber medium?

Recommended Posts

G'day folks

I've been growing in a Hypergrow chamber (see Hypergrow)

Been using the pumice they supplied but want to change it to something else - perlite maybe? What do you reckon? I want something easy to work with and not needing too much ongoing maintenance. I've reused the pumice once but it's a pain to clean for reuse. Perlite could be just replaced after each grow? Pros/cons of perlite? Alternatives to it?

Ï'm using PowerGro nutes if this makes any difference. So it's a pretty basic setup but is going ok cos I don't have much time to fuss over it.

Thanks for your advice :D

I would be tempted to look at expanded clay balls if it is a recirculating system, if it uses a reservoir beneath the plants for feeding then perlite would be my choice as it “wicks” the nutrients up to the plants better.

How is the yield from the chamber? Some of their hype is a bit hard to swallow, like the bit about being equivalent to a 6' x 6' room, I would be looking for at least 3 or 4 lb out of that space.

Taz,

re yield - I ignored the bullshit and bought anyways - I haven't even planted as densely as they say, just two plants each time. Is enough for personal and that's all I want. Probably wouldn't buy the chamber again, but only cos I've done research now and know there are alternatives.

But for ease of use and setup, is great. I've gone away for a week or two and it looks after itself. Is reservoir based - I just fill her up and check every few days. If I didn't work FT I'd have more time available....and probably grow better plants. This time round I'm gonna do a few indoors and one outside for comparison.

Yield - bit hard to say, my old man is always getting in there and trimming up for me! Certainly nowhere near pounds!

Thanx for reply :D
