If I mentiond the most commonly used "white oil and yellow sticky pads" I would have aluded to the cause "Dampness" / "Overwater" ect of the medium - prevention is best but "raducation futile".

 

Tell her/him to tighten up their watering practices would be the advice I would be pushing.

With you there on the raid I purchased some neem today as the mossie coils got rid of most but on closer inspection still a few suckers here and there that would breed up quick I took them out of the tent put them up on a step ladder so I could get under the leaves and nuked them good. I will repeat if needed now I know what they look like I will keep an eye open.
