Best system for garage grow

Recommended Posts

Hi stoners

Ok waiting on my first seed shipment to arrive from bonza!

Grow is going to be in a garage . 2 grow tents

Main 1x1x1.8 grow tent - 400w HPS , 15cm inline fan

clone/seedling/veg is .8 x .8 x .45 "budbox" grow tent - 130w CFL , 10cm pc type fan

what do you think the best system to grow in this would be , given its in a garage so temps will be a bit up and down (just a winter grow) and I won't get to check them every day , maybe 2x a week

I am thinking of expanded clay pots in a tray with ebb and flow or dripper system

or coco with drip

both systems offer a bit of environmental protection from the heat/cold and are pretty simple. ive never done a coco grow though .

what are your thoughts?

Any chance you could check on them more than "maybe 2x a week"?

Being new to growing I see this as your biggest chance of your grow going to shit. It would benefit you greatly if you could check on them more often in case of unforseen circumstances. If there are any problems you want to be on top of them as soon as possible, a lot can go wrong in a short time.

coco never used soil indoors, though it would be just as good...diff ph and feeding..same ease of use..

.no water or air pumps,no timers,(less elec and less to go wrong)

coco good for beginers as its ph netural from go..can be flushed with ease..less chance of bringing in pests with soil...allthough it is advisable to flush coco with ph adjusted water..and treat with some gnat off or neem (gnats love coco)..before use...

will give ya couple days between feeds..but as naycha said ...the more offten ya can get down to have a look the better the chances of success..

best of luck with it all

I agree. I would have loved an automated setup as a noob but you need to get to know the error of your ways first and it's best to do that daily by hand otherwise there are way more variables for errors than there is in the ways they advise ;)

In other words, the only shortcut to learnin' is to follow the veterans' advice ;)

thanks guys

im not a total newb ! Ive done about 20 or so grows BUT ive been out of it for the last 3-4 years .

I can probably stretch to 3 times a week , but the garage is right near the neighbors so I have to limit my time in there , they are real pain in the ass!

coco sounds like the best bet , but ive never done it before and every medium has its little quirks and tricks!

would 15cm inline fan be enough to use a carbon filter with ? its just 1x400w in winter so there wont be heaps of heat built up
