Cannabis Plants in Hobart

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I'm a new member and would like to say g'day and send a big thumbs up to everyone on this site. I pray that sometime in the near future our country will wake up, open a debate and make laws appropropriate to OUR country based on scientific evidence and not American propaganda from the 70's.

Now I've just moved to Tassie and have talked to a few people and I am told that it is apparently ok (in that the police turn a blind eye) to cultivate two plants, providing it is for therapeutic use/pain relief. I close friend of mine also said he had two plants growing in his front yard, and the police had seen them and not acted on it.

He told me that if you were open about it and weren't hiding the plants then the police had no need to assume he was dealing (which he wasn't).

Now I'd love to cultivate some plants, and two would be enough for me, and my reasons for cultivation are purely for the process itself. I'd ideally like to clone and isolate better performing plants continuously, as to find what I deem to be a better performing plant, or one with characteristics that appeal to me. I think of the idea almost as modifying something to the way that you like it. This very much interests me, although I've never been able to do it because I am afraid (yes afraid) of being caught. If i was allowed two plants I think I'd have a great time experimenting and learning more about this plant that is so unfairly judged by people that make biased decisions due to its misrepresentation by various authorities such as the media. I find when people are educated and shown the facts regarding cannabis their opinions change dramatically.

I guess my question is, is anyone here from Tassie and can they give me a better insight as to the local laws on cultivation?

Cheers.

Hey HazeyDavey =) Lmao, man thats funny. The cops in tassie, I lived there for a year or so. Mate they like everywhere else, 2 plants are not ok. The laws in tassie are pretty much the same as anywhere else in the country.

Tasmania

Someone found in the possession of up to 50 grams of cannabis can be given a caution up to three times in ten years. For the first caution, information and referral is provided. A brief intervention is given with the second caution. On the third and final caution, the offender must be assessed for drug dependence and attend either a brief intervention or treatment program.

Just check theres not an updated version, but thats where ya stand.

Not saying ya can't get away with it, but depends on the copper and where ya are, how they feeling on the day, and wether someone took the last donut before them at smoko.. lol

Just stay safe, people always sayin ya can do this and ya can do that.........well i prefer to be a little more careful =) . Peace. Nibbler.

Thanks man. Yeah I had read that exact law (or wording of) and thought the same thing. It's just such a shame. At least in America you can apply for a permit to grow for dispensaries etc. I felt like going down to the cop shop and asking them :P

I've never really had a good relationship with the Police. I've never been in trouble with them, it's just that every time something happens and you need them theyre never there. A couple of years ago a garbage truck turned into my car without looking and almost killed my mate. $8000 worth of damages. At the scene of the accident i called the local police station and asked them to come down to the scene but they refused. Twice. I filed a complaint and they were at my house within 20 minutes, though as they were not at the scene they could not make a decision on the fault. The driver of the truck claimed that i had swerved into him, so it was his word against mine. And so i was left with half a car and no means to pay for the damages.

Yet then I have a look on this site and read that an external report that the Police are strip searching a 12 year old girl. Twice. And what they should be doing is focusing on the needs of the people instead of trying to meet targets and quotas.

Thanks for your reply too, mate i appreciate it.

Why don't you just ask them? Use a public phone in another area tho lol.

Na seriously, just ask, they can't charge you for wanting to 'clarify' wots illegal & wots not. Have done it several times but only re pot once & that was in Pemberton! lmao! Little girl copper couldn't believe what she was being asked and asked me my name so I gave it to her & my address.......get in their face with straight answers, puts em off guard I reckon cos they're expecting you to be evasive! Of course I wasn't growing or had any on me at the time.

My question related to the number of plants and charges relating. Folks were running round saying you cud "have 3 plants now" and I reckoned you couldn't "have" any, was just the difference in charges, criminal or not & that was the difference in this state. But as she pointed out "the charge would be set at the arresting officers discretion". That's their get out of jail free card so don't upset the bastards either lol
