Ozone generatores for odor control

Recommended Posts

G'day Jett,

I hate the smell of mozzie coils mate, but they will amaze you as to how well they can mask a smell. Keep venting like you are and just try a mozie coil in your tent. If asked, you suffer badly from their bites(mozzies I mean). For the price they are worth a bash and you may kill some of those blood sucking bitches(mozzies I mean) :thankyou:

all the best,

Dude............. Mozzie coils for controlling grow odours.......ya kidding right? Geebus......some of you fellas gotta lot of readin to do in Cannaversity.

I prefer Carbon Filters, while big and bulky, they provide great protection and they are refillable. Ozone generators can be dangerous, but if set up correctly and at a safe distance can be effective, so each to their own.

Mozzie coils in flower will shit ya flowers up and give ya chemical tainted buds, and seen as thats the bit we smoke, probably not such a great idea, remember , just cause something is natural like pyrethum from daisies doesnt mean its not harmful, Uranium is natural but ya dont see me spreadin it on me toast....... lol.

Mozzie coils also contain, bonding agents, chemicals to keep them burning and other nasties, and some that are manufactured cheaply overseas can be downright toxic.

Use at your own risk.

Peace. Nibbler.

Hi Nibbler,

I have used carbon filters and I have used ozone generators. Boths effectiveness were totally dependant upon the strain and amount I was growing. But I have never used anything that can hide the smell completely. Mozzies coils mask the smell, and I have found that very, very affective. I only try to hide/mask the smell from the 4-5 week of flowering with the strain I grow now but I only ever adjusted that by a week or two with smelly varieties. Never need to hide/mask during veg period.

Nibbler my plants don't bong or chew on the mozzie coils so I would love to know how they manage to get to the "will shit ya flowers up and give ya chemical tainted buds" Can you prove that please? Can you point me to your sources please? I need to read that> :pardon: Is there a toxic variety of mozzie coils sold here in oz????? Could be handy lol

Mozzie coils are a lot cheaper then ozone generators and carbon filters and you don't need to go to the hydro shop to refill/purchase. I have witnessed what can happen to plants that are exposed to ozone when a timer has failed when the exhaust vents and the ozone generator are linked inline to the same vent let alone what it could have done to me. So the coils are worth a try for any newbies, especially in small grow areas.

All the best,

Daskunk

Heya Daskunk =) , this is a run down on Mozzie coils for ya, Particulate matter is in the air, and therefore on ya buds, mosquito coils produce a lot of this, also produce formaldahyde, (soz if spelling is naff). The partcicles will be on ya buds, and I can only guess what the ash contains, getting stuck in ya resins and trichomes, then ya smoke it. Can't be good for ya.

This is just a wiki link........

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosquito_coil

There are many articles on studies of rats being exposed to the smoke developing cancers. There is a reason the pack says "For Outdoor Use Only".

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:AzjFfsNYlJAJ:www.ajol.info/index.php/gmj/article/view/36001/25342+osquito+coils+effects&hl=en&gl=au&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESgVLAogR-tAy5vubsekJ1ZYWyJNkAYP--TDB7qyY4N4xVNsgbBkTXwXDZF9ZAAL6EOmqFJmhVp7V4dOUo3N6qVuNmMVFuJEQlyMVvwX-IQGFl-VsYe_7Q1hwx8vRjnXA3yxVKEY&sig=AHIEtbRK-uwLLiVQ7aCEcHQHLgcN0lFhHA

You only have to replace carbon in ya filters every 3-5 years(dependant on Temps and Humidity) if that. And that would be heavy use.

Safest, easiest way to hide odours. Just about every Indoor grower has one, cheap insurance...........

Peace. Nibbler.

G'day Nibbler,

Thanks for the informed reply mate. You obviously went to some efforts. I just want you to know that I'm not trying to sell mozzie coils or anything. I'm am attempting to give people another string to their defence. I have nothing against the use of ozone generators or carbon filters. Just trying to let Jett know that he could maybe add a mozzie coil into the room where he has his tent situated to help him out. Sometimes the simplest methods are the most effective. Jett may be smelling the turpentines(i think that's what they call em) within the plants as he approaches his room. Good ventilation and air circulation are impairative to any successful indoor grow so we have no option but to vent heavily. When we extract air from our areas with any form of fan it is usually from a central location within the area. They never extract all the smell. If someone walks up next to the room they will smell the plants especially the smelly girls. If someone walks up next to the same room with a mozzie coil in it they will smell the coil 1st and they don't ask about the smell.

They study was good reading Nibbler but I am not sure about the control conditions. When I read the confined space they kept the rats in and they state "partially ventilated" with 2 mozzies coils....doubt if most people could tolerate that for any period of time. As far as dust particles being absorbed by plants I didn't see any evidence of that at all. I did read many years ago where the author of one of the 1st books I ever read on the subject of weed growing claimed that cigarette smoke could cause smoke dust to clog the little breathing pours(can't remember what they call em) of the fan leaves but just about everything in that book was shit.

I don't advocate mozzie coils as a health article or issue just saying they stink and they do help 'mask' smells.

All the best,

Daskunk.

PS. Only some brands of mozzie coils are intended for outdoor use. The baygon brand has one (type) and if you can get them they work the best.

Yep and I tried placing really smelly fertiliser all around my garage, right next to my grow box. Still someone came in and took it for themselves.

I recommend nothing but a carbon filter. So you can be absolutely certain no smell escapes the vent. Just with the mozzie coils mate, i noticed that after a while i got some what immune to the smell of the grow room! I thought the fertiliser around everywhere was doing the trick, it was not at all.
