cutting off the first prongs?

Hey all, first i should introduce myself.. g'day all.. secondly cool site..

 

Anyway im a first time having a go grower.. yeh after all these years , but hey why not, just free seeds off sum decent buds i scored so yeh dunno the strain or nothin like that ay, something to start with i spose hey, but nway they would be bout 5 to 6 weeks old now .. just repotted them 2 days ago.. outa this clay shit into pottin mix, have been pretty much floggin em with seasol and this shit from bunnings called aquasol... which yeh dose have potassium to but got it cause of the nitrogen.. anyways they seem to be healthy as ay.. nice n green but am i doin the wrong thing by sniping the first lot of leaves that came up first..?? i dunno wot u call em the 3 prong ones .. i'll try to attach a foto .. they look like lil canopys.. and i water them flat out, like 4 times a day.. as my thought is that there well drained so that wouldnt hurt hey..? or do they like to go a bit dry for abit..? cheers any help would be cool. sorry bout the dodge pics .. jus off the webcam..
