Don't leave the cover over the seedling for too long, seedlings need moving air to strengthen and thicken their stems.

Great point... once I'm happy Baby's recovered and is growing as per usual I'll take her out. In the meantime I'm going to try to give her some time each day "airing" whilst I'm doing the watering rounds. Still haven't found my scrap wire (not keen on asking Dad directly cause he'd twig on I think) so I may need to do a bunning's run on my day's off.

G'day W.

So, I'm not alone with criminally insane chooks! Let me tell you, that's a relief. One of mine hisses like a snake or croc, pure evil. The only thing keeping them breathing, is that they lay magnificient eggs. The only thing to do to prevent them from being their normal, destructive self is to lock 'em up. They don't respect any man made borders or no go zones. You might be able to fence your grow. I fenced my veg patch to keep the bastards out, or they run amok in there with the soil being soft, moist and full of food. Lots of luck with whatever you try, keep us updated.

Holy Hissing Hens, Batman! At least mine aren't that bad. With the repairs to the fence completed it's all good so far. Having trouble getting the girls (and 1 guy) into the pen for a lock-up. We're talking a bloods and crips type of division in the flock and if one group goes in for the dinner call then the other's won't even come near the pen.

Egg production is down too, as I think most of them are laying somewhere under the house.

If they weren't so amusing I'd off the lot. But then I see Chanticleer, the cockrel, doing his little wing down mating dance shuffle on which ever hen happens to be closest and I just laugh and laugh. Especially when the long legged lady gets her jog on to escape him and she looks like a mini ostrich on the lam.

Just hope the fence holds now but I'm looking to add to it anyway (for privacy purposes  as well as cosmetics) but I'm forever the optimist!
