Cleaning a pipe & other paraphernalia

Recommended Posts

My favourite method of cleaning my pipe is a little messy but simple as.

First I get an old plastic container - I use a butter container. put your pipe, conepiece, cleaning stick & any bits you have to clean into the container & cover it with brown vinegar.

Let it stand for an hour or so, depending on how dirty the pipe etc is, pull it all out & rinse under tap.

You will need something to slide into pipe stem, I use a straightened hairclip and a pipe cleaner - the hairclip scrapes it out & pipecleaner pushes it all out. A small brush would be great! Dip it back into the vinegar & run a clean pipecleaner thru it. Repeat til clean. When clean you are happy with your efforts rinse it underthe tap again, clean it out again with a new pipe cleaner while under running water if you wish.

For the cone piece I use anything I can find to clean it out. Mine gets quite a build up and it usually needs a couple of soaks.

My fav piece atm is from a manicure set. It's a bit like knife, has concave blade & a rounded end, just the ducks tittys for the shape of a cone piece. I have used a knife but this gives great coverage & fits better. Not sure what it's called or used for, never used it! lol

Anyway scrape out what you can with the tool of choice and then I literally scrub it with the scourer til clean enough.

This softens all the resin build up and therefore it's easier to remove.

Don't know how this would go with a bong, but probably worth a try & perhaps a bottlebrush or rice even to scrub?

This works on a metal pipe & have used it on a wooden pipe but I didn't soak that very long, hence not as good a result.

It's very important that you use BROWN vinegar as white vinegar will pit the metal. Brown will too of course if you leave things in it too long.

It's not a quick method & as I said, messy (when isn' it?) but it does give a great result! Watch out for the hot plant matter that you will suck thru lol

Happy Toking!

lol, thats too hard juli =), Here ya go, quick and easy, cleans every bong and just brilliant on glass.....

Go to ya local super market, buy a litre of Metholated Spirits, and a nice bag of rock salt, to clean smaller parts use a container as you say, and add rock salt and Metho.

The rock salt works as the abrasive and the metho to break down the oils etc...

I clean 3 glass bongs, stems and glass cone pieces in about 15 minutes.

Rinse a few times well and fill er up and your away.............I f you have the anodized aluminium stems, this will strip the anodize if you use metho and salt on it.

For everything else it rocks...........well except Apple Pipes.....Lmao...... Peace. Gh72

For a full wash I also use iso once or twice a year but my pipe doesn't get that much use.

But for a regular clean I use the blue end from a Bic pen, the type the banks use, the clear ones

The end fits perfectly in my pipe and a wooden skewer pushes it through like a plunger.

It leaves just enough gunk to stop the hotrocks. And no chemical taste.

P.S. Apples soaked in metho =@ Hmmmmm. No, I'd have to agree GH. I don't think it would work for apple bongs lol
