Can i smoke a hookah with no spin?

Nah real molasses, tobacco prepared for a hookah is called shisha, hookah mixes without tobacco are usually called hukka.

 

eg. Shisha made from tobacco, apples, molasses and glycerine

 

eg Hukka made from mixed fruit and glycerine (no molasses in this one)

 

The reason you want a wet and sticky mix in a hookah is to prevent the mix from burning under the charcoal... for the smoothest smoke the mixture should just simmer.

ooo cool, so theres actually mix packs you can buy for hookahs with no tobbacco already? That will be fun to experiment with Do they have any effect of thier own or are those mixes purely for the flavour/texture? We were planning to smother the bud in hash oil, do you think this would create a suitably wet and sticky mix?

Find a smoke shop that sells the stuff or accost a mob of middle eastern men in a coffee shop, they may even have a hookah going & ask them about it, they'll probably share a lot with you, people love to be asked about their culture.

If you're in Perth there's a tobacconist at the Altone Park Shopping Centre in Beechboro that's run by Iranians - they sell the baccy & water pipes, as they call them. Their fags are cheap too!!

I got mine from the local milkbar, they stock quite a variety of smoking related products. Online you will find the Soex range of fruit hukka at Onlinesmoke.com.au. They're customer service aint great and the postage is a bit of a whack, but they do stock what's in the catalogue and usually deliver orders in a reasonable time frame.

 

edit - it's just fruit and syrup it wont get you high on it's own. And no, I think drowning your bud in hash oil will just be a waste of product. At a minimum, wet the bud with warm water and make sure there is an air gap between the top of the bud and the surface where the charcoal sits to prevent it igniting.

Well we ended up just going straight bud with some water in it to moisten it up. First two times i think we were going at it a bit too hard. We got VERY high from them, but it was unpleasant to smoke because we were going so fast it was burning rather than vaping.

 

When we finnally managed to settle down, it started to vape properly. I found that a 10-20 second draw every 1-5 min was enough to keep the coals lit without burning the mull. I dont think i have ever really tasted bud prior to this experiece... it was amazing Its a very fun way to smoke, just make sure you have a shit-ton of weed to waste on it :S

Same with me when I bought my first pipe, it was then I realised I had been tasting dirty bong taste all these years and that well made pieces do have their benefits.

 

Looking forward to smoking flavoured strains through it too, only smoked local hydro that's been through too many hands

 

If you've never vaped, try to borrow a good one, some people find it better than smoking

Haha, yeah, I'd like to try some flavoured stuff, maybe try some interesting alternatives to tobacco to spin with. unfortunately, I don't live near a capital, so I'll have to make sure I keep an eye out for the fruit mallasses blends etc. that you guys were talking about next time I visit the big smoke

I did a little research on this a while Ago, even the tobacco style shisha has something like 10 times less nicotine than regular baccy. I just chose a few flavours to experiment with. Mix in your Un spun chop and puff away, even without green in it you will find shisha is beautifully smooth and even appealing to non ciggie smokers. Makes for a great chilled out Sesh with a few mates!

Ma' man smokes a hooka, and I have often considered putting some pot in, for me not him (last time he smoked he thought he was having a heart attack _ ... looser) but I feel it would waste it as it burns like buggery.

Re the tobacco they use in the hooka - you can get it from middle eastern shops, and it is sticky and gooey and oily - comes in a block with different flavours, apple is most popular.

Personally it makes me feel sick cos I am not used to it and don't smoke tobacco, but most people can tolerate it when they don't smoke - it gets you pretty hazey I think.. I prefer real weed myself:-).

You will also need a strainer - the kind you use in the kitchen sink to sit a bbq coal in to keep it lit - so there is a bit of an art to it.

Also you use foil with a specific number of holes punched in it under the mix so it doesn't get sucked into the pipe - I can pay more attention next time if you are really interested.

Suffice to say - there is a real art to doing it that way.

I think a great block of hash and many to share would be a great party trick though.
