Seventy charged in

police crime sweep

SEVENTY people have been

charged with a total of 205 offences

in a drug and property operation

conducted by the Toowoomba District

Tactical Crime Squad.

Police seized 177 cannabis plants,

ecstasy tablets and the methylamphetamine

ICE during the two-weeklong

Operation Dysania, which ended

yesterday.

The operation involved the investigation

of property offences and

their link to drug supply in the Toowoomba

district.

Tactical Crime Unit officer-incharge

Senior Sergeant Mark Kelly

said the cannabis plants, seized

from a Greenmount property, were

between 90cm and 110cm in height.

“Police also located 90 ecstasy tablets,

5.8 grams of ICE and $2500 at an

address in Clifford Street.’’

Senior Sergeant Kelly said an amphetamine

lab and $25,000 worth of

diamond rings and other stolen

property were found at a Gladstone

Street property on Sunday.

A 39-year-old man appeared in

Toowoomba Magistrates Court on

Tuesday on charges related to the

find and was remanded without bail.

A woman, 39, was also charged in

relation to the lab and stolen property

and is expected to appear on January

12, along with the majority of

those charged as a result of the operation.

The latest operation, supported by

members of the State Flying Squad

and the State Drug Investigation

Team, netted drugs with a total estimated

value of more than $400,000.
