Little hempy buckets

Heya boys and girls.

 

Sick of dirt in my fridge, and have been reading up on hempy buckets, as the low tech, no moving parts bit really sings to me.

 

Thinking small, clone to flower type effort, mebbe large cups, 100% perlite, generic hydro nute x.

 

Anyone had a play with hempy small scale and have some pearls of wisdom to share?

Gonna go for it anyway, just need to find some suitable containers, prolly 1-2L each, a bag of perlite, and some nutes.

 

Will maybe diarise if theres any interest.

Sounds like the ticket Mc .Lots of good grows on the web using hempy buckets. Good deep trays under your pots is all you need to replicate hempy bucket anyway . Six or half a dozen anyway get em cranking

Been wandering the abode looking for suitable containers and came across 2L placcy milk bottles

 

Happen to have a dozen cans of black spray paint in the kit.

 

Getting excited, wish I had the current fundage for a HPS, but not right now, prolly for the best anyhoo given the time of year, plan to grab a 250W for when the temps go down a lil.

 

Sometimes planning this stuff is better than the smoke at the end.

Taubmans matt black "fiddly bits" seems to stick well enough to the milk bottles

 

Now just need me some perlite, vermaculite, and some nutes.

i did it with a 50ltr black dustbin last year and it worked a treat............ i used coco instead of verm and it was a fucking beautiful plant untill the whole thing got ripped ... must of been a few of them cause i tried to pic it up and i couldnt carry it once i got it off the ground...

Still, good to hear it works.

 

Rearranged the fridge to suit planned grow today, now just gotta sort out the nightmare that is the veg/clone box.

I run my main grow using DWC but converted a few 350ml plastic drinking cups into little hempy buckets to keep a few bonsai mother plants and they work a treat.

 

Drilled a hole 1cm diameter about 1cm from bottom of cup (cut a small patch of insect nettig to put on inside of cup over hole so substrate didn't leak out of hole).

I used 3 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite for substrate and feed every 3 days using some (25% diluted) nutes taken from main res once a week.

 

Haven't used them for a main grow though - only for keeping bonsai mothers.

Also I don't think using a deep drainage tray is the same thing as a hempy bucket as the nute solution that runs off to the tray will be exposed to light and potentially external nasties whereas the little res at the bottom of a hempy bucket will not.

Stumbled across a thread elsewhere trialling osmocote+TE with hempy, got some ideas to try any day now.

 

Will diarise, mebbe 420, mebbe public.
