Pair in court over $300,000 pot find

A MAN and woman will face court after the discovery of more than $300,000 worth of cannabis at a house on the NSW central coast.

 

Police said officers were following up inquiries at a home on the Pacific Highway, Gosford, after a 47-year-old man was involved in a minor collision yesterday.

 

When they arrived at the property there was the strong smell of cannabis, a spokesman said.

 

Officers obtained a search warrant and returned to the house shortly before 3pm (AEDT) where they discovered a large number of cannabis plants, leaf, seeds and amphetamines.

 

A 26-year-old woman was arrested, she remained in custody to appear in Gosford Local Court today.

 

The 47-year-old man was arrested about 8.30pm (AEDT) and charged with possessing and cultivating a prohibited plant, possessing a prohibited drug and with a number of traffic matters.

 

He was granted bail to appear at the Gosford Local Court on December 23.

I didnt know smell was enough evidence to obtain a earch warrant - scary if you have a stinky grow although there was probably weed everywhere to make $300'000 worth [~100 plants].

I have no idea about the legalilty of marijuana in Queensland. Its all just a bunch of old laws that noone can be bothered changing IMHO. Ive put so many joints out near cops that it makes me feel like I just threw away a roach for no reason - theres no doubt that I smell very funky sometimes so it may as well be legal.

 

If youre wondering; I used to go to places where drug use is a given. Ive had a sniffer dog pulled off my crotch before and have been laughed at by cops for failing to get over a fence. Sniffer dogs scare the crap out of me when they look at my crotch with their big teeth [eek!] and paddy wagons arent my idea of a good night.

 

I asked a cop something a few months ago - 'what the hell can I do in this shithole town this late at night?' - I then realized I was stoned when he started asking me where I lived and what I was doing - 'I was just kicked off a train at midnight and didnt want to go to sleep in the city incase someone mugged me so wanted a place to hang out' - hehe. I wont do that shit again in a hurry as he wasnt a friendly person unlike the other cops I questioned that night - they looked friendly and I was shown where a Net cafe was. Most cops seem to be cool up here but you get some wankers once in a while - the first cop I asked was all alone - haha. I was brought up being told cops are public servants and if you dont feel safe they will help you out.

Go to your local library and the QLD law society will probably have easy to read books, that is what I did, and then you will be equipped with the knowledge to at least minimse the consequences of a bust, it can't hurt mate.

I aggree,butregardless you should always be respectful becaus eif they want they can fuck you up, maybe it is no as easy these days but even 15 years a go, a mate of mine got tuned up by a cop for being a smart ass imo itis ni=not worth, you feel smart er having conned the dickhead into letting you go when ussually a search would have meant a possession charge, so Iam always polite to cops, maybe even try to act matey with them etc when pulled over, sometimes it works others I still get a ticket.

Syk, I was stuck in the city and I was almost asleep! Ive heard stories about people being taken advantage of in this position - I wanted a place where someone could look after me if I fell asleep and I didnt want to end up dead! I shouldnt have had to explain [2 times] why I wanted somewhere to go and I was as polite as I could be after doing overtime and after being told to get out of the train station and while being treated like I had no right to ask him a question.

 

A couple of chics there said he sounded like an arsehole after this happened.
