HAVING been picked up for doing street burnouts while drink-driving, James Andrew Hunter had dropped his pants and told police to stick the breathalyser mouthpiece into his bottom.

Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard Hunter, 26, had crashed his car after a drinking session at a mate's place but continued to drive with smoke pouring from one side of the vehicle, which attracted the attention of a police patrol late on the night of May 19.

The police crew followed Hunter as he drove east along Hursley Rd into Anzac Ave and eventually into Hill St, where he stopped outside a residence and did a burnout on the street, not realising police were watching.

Prosecutor Sergeant Tony Costa said Hunter blew a roadside breath/alcohol reading of 0.176 and was taken to the police station for a breath analysis test.

However, when directed to supply a sample of breath for testing, Hunter had stood up, dropped his pants, bent over and told police to insert the breathalyser mouth piece into his bottom, Sgt Costa said.

He had then become resistant toward police and a scuffle ensued as police tried to place him into a holding cell.

Hunter had failed to appear in court on November 9 to answer the charges, but had surrendered to police yesterday morning and appeared in custody to plead guilty to all charges.

His solicitor, Sarah Gordon, said her client was drunk on the night and did not remember much of the events.

Her client had been punished already in that his car had sustained $7000 in damage and was impounded for 48 hours, while his driver's licence had been suspended since that night due to the high breath/alcohol reading, she said.

Describing Hunter's behaviour toward police as "deplorable", Magistrate Damian Carroll fined him $1200 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for the next six months.

EDIT: Would have been i bit of a shock if the coppers did stick the breathalyser up his arse!
