Spider mites / Thrips / Aliens ?

Recommended Posts

Aloha !

Ive looked around and believe my problems are definantly some kind of pest.

My photos dont show it too well, but most of the leaves have a trail of white dots on them , similar to what i think may be spider mites.

Just thought i would get a few more opinions before i unleash hell on the fuckers.

The plants are in Veg outdoors, maybe 10 weeks old.

I have also noticed one or two of the lowest fan leaves dying off but assumed this to be normal :)

Any opinions or advice are extremely welcomed.

Cheers guys

Your most likely correct and have a mite infestation, it could be a few other things though so I would be getting a magnifying glass and having a good look at the underside of the leaves, mites are not all that fast and should be easy to spot if they are there in any real numbers, look for red or brown specks that move!

While you are there keep your eye out for webs (a mite symptom) and any other little crawlies that may be hiding under the leaves during daylight.

My best advice would be to just nuke whatever it is early, before the plants get too big and start to fill out (also gives you plenty of time to try a second dose before budding start). "Eco neem" or a similar product should be enough to get rid of pretty much all the likely candidates, just be thorough and make sure you soak every inch of the plants (stems and leaves, top and bottom).

:peace:

Heya DD =), yeah get some good neem oil and hit em up, folair spray them and also give em a soil drench (directions usually on bottle) , this creates like a residual in the plant, so anything that sucks on it gets a mouthful of neem and dies, spraying only works on contact with em and a lil residual. neem will work on most insects outside.......Best of luck. Phew I'm just happy it's not aliens .

Thanks for your respOnces guys :)

Smashed - it sounds exactly like what your describing , there were trails of White dots over most of the leaves , the only ones that had been eaten were down the bottom of the plant and probably some other pest :)

So I'll look into White flys

And g'day grasshopper , shit yeah sounds good I always read about neem oil ! Is it available say at bunnings ?

That will be good if I can take care of most of the pests then just have to worry about mold and diseases :)

Thanks for your help guys

DD
