coco medium

Recommended Posts

Being new to the hydro scene im in some need of some advice. I have a bag of coco mix and was wondering if u could use this in a bubbler system. Ie if the bottom of the pot was filled with geolite or vermiculite would this help.

Im thinking coco will clog up the pump maybe even with geolite placed in the bottom of the pot?

once again im only hypothesizing can coco be used in a bubbler system or what medium is recomended for this system

Cheers

hey spider, FAQ forums aren't for questions, so I moved your post here :D

as to your question, clay balls are the best medium to use in bubblers. I would say coco would not be suitable in this system. You don't need a lot of medium in bubblers. Thats the best thing about them IMO. The cost of enough clay balls to fill the netpots of a personal grow is virtually nothing. Probably costs you more in fuel to drive to the hydro store ;)

Wash the clay balls when you buy it to get rid of all the dust [or youll still get a blocked pump] and correct the PH while youre at it. They arent expensive when you consider how good they are [they dont break down like other mediums]. :D

Ive got 30L of clayballs that I have no idea what to do with now [i gave up on hydro today]. ;)

Ill still grow indoors but Im not using the typical hydro system as it doesnt appeal to me - its too complicated, stressful and expensive for me - Id rather just throw some seeds in a pot, water it, repot it and then harvest. Ill get more pleasure out of hand watering and potting-up so its all good - clayballs dont fit into my future regime. ;)

Oh yeah - make that 20L - I have no idea how I lost 10L of clay balls. :D
