Good Location - Questions as to soil type suitability

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Let me just start by thanking everyone that posts on this forum at any point in time, you've helped me come up with some great ideas for pretty much everything.

This is my first grow, and I've managed to locate seeds and have been itching to germinate them, and get my grow underway.

I've found two sites which are utterly perfect in the way of hidden location, lack of foot traffic and a lot of other things.

Problems are, One of them is a small area of swampland and one of them is a couple of Km back from the coast line meaning the soil is a bit sandy.

I haven't done any accurate pH tests on either soils just mainly done a bit of scouting and using my own knowledge of the areas.

I'm just curious whether in terms of a grow, if these sites are somewhat suitable?

Any insight into either of these things would be brilliant.

Regards

Romp-off.

G'day RO.

I'd probably go for the swamp, for the ground water, saves carting in, if you have to cart, this will become a HUGE pain in the arse. Not to mention the arms, shoulders, legs and back. Grab a ph test kit, not one of those cheap probes, and get a test of both sites. The sandy soil will need a fair bit of improvement, once again this means carting shit in, boring. The soil around the swamp area should have a lot more structure and organic life in it, just plant them where they can't be drowned, if there is a flood or some such thing. Uncle Chron says to use lots of cow shit, by all means, no matter where you grow, manures are a vital element of your crop. Don't forget to mulch as well.

Hey RO ,

I'm with norm , swamp grows can turn out amazing :)

Try plant somewhere that won't flood or drown your roots and you will be fine :)

Germinate them now and keep them at home until they are past the seedling stage , a small fence will probably be needed where you plant to stop pests from attacking your crops .

You still have plenty of time , smaller plants mean your less likely to get caught .

Good lck
