Rattys outdoor run.

Recommended Posts

Well its been a while since i updated this thread, not really much to look at till now, we've all seen plants growing in veg stage!

I ended up getting 20 males which i pulled, more than i wanted but better than a kick in the teeth! I took a couple of cuttings from each plant to sex them, keeping the CS male cuttings to collect the pollen. They were flowered indoors in my cloning cabinet. Which reminds me i'm going to have to steralise the cloning cab really before i use it again next year.

The black death x bubblious crosses that i bred have been the standout performer going into flower a good 3 weeks before the CS. This is vitally important for me here as winter comes in hard & fast with lots of mould so the sooner they start flowering the better. They are pics 004 & 005. I've done a bit of pollenating of the black death x bubblious so i have some fresh seeds for next year, this years seeds were about 4-5 years old.

I also had some pretty nasty possum attacks just as the plants were starting to flower. They didn't get into the compounts but climbed the wire mesh then climbed out onto the bird netting, their body weight then pulled them down onto the tops of the crowns where they were able to have a fine old feist! I set a possum trap & caught the varment the first night i set it. Relocated the fucker a couple of klms up the road, hopefully it won't be back too soon.

This is the first year i've ever had a posum attack of this sort & chewing the crappa out of the best bits, the crowns nearly broke my heart!

Fortunately it was very early in the flower stage & tho i am sure i've lost some weight doesn't seem to have been too catastrofic!

All considering i think i'll still end up with enough to get me thru the next season which is all i can really ask for.

The vegie bags have been performing really well, i'm quite happy with them & will use them again next year. The roots have been growing thru the bottom of the bags in fine tendrills - just what i was hoping would happen tho because of the possum attacks i had to move some of the plants away from the edge of the compounds, this disturbed the fine roots some bit didn't seem to bother the plants at all. I ran into some cal/mag defencies mid way thru veg due to the coco but a few good doses of cal/mag & a change to dedicated coco nutes has seen the last of that. I've been watering them twice a week since the onset of flowering with Canna coco, then switched to a cheaper brand of coco nutes, Nutrifilm. Hope they are up to the job as they are 1/5 of the price of Canna coco. I'm just following the recomended nute level of 3.5mls per L giving each plant 4L of nute mix twice a week.

Thats about it for today, i'll be back with more pics when they get close to chop chop time.

Cheers, Ratty!

Well the outdoor run is done, was done a little while ago but been busy with the scissors & the trim washing lol

Heres a couple of pics of the last few of the girls to get the chop. I had to chop them pretty early, as per usual, the evil bud rot showed up again. I really need to find a convenient method of bringing on flowering earlier on to give the buds more of a chance to bulk up.

The buds were a tad light on in density, as expected in an early harvest. Covered in a delicious white haze of resin. Smokes yup real sweet. Its a good body stone with a nice head buzz that encourages you to do something if you want to or veg in front of the TV with a good movie.

The vegie bags were a huge success, i was able to move the plants round as i wished without disturbing them much at all. I'll be using them again thats for sure!

All in all i'm very happy with this yrs harvest, now to plan next years!
