I find searles potting mix (or a well drained mix) ... straight into a 5" pot ... seed about 1cm deep ... give it a water ...

let it drain ... put it in a plastic, clear, sealed bag ... it doesn't even need light at this point ...

just a minimum of 16 degrees soil temp ... about 22-25 degrees optimal ... leave them for about 3-4 days...

in a shady spot, no sun ... then open bags .... hey presto

 

Works 4 me ... I've even had 2 germinate some for a mate this season, seems he smoked 2 much & forgot how lol
