Youd have to bypass the powerpole meters to do it properly apparently - I just had some electrical work done here and the sparky told me all about it as I watched him wind my meter back. I pay from that day onwards so I got a month free [i have to dispute the yearly adjustments supposedly]. :P

Mr evo, the Dr Livingston forums are for introductions of new members, as such I've moved this thread to the lighting forum. ;)

As to stealing power, that's the quickest way to get busted. Electricity companies tend to be a little miffed when you start stealing 10000 plus watts from them, and they'll usually track down the source. They're not stupid. Not to mention it's probably extremely dangerous and likely to fail on you when you least expect it. :P

Just pay the bill, they could care less what you use provided you pay for it. ;)

Look into 3-phase power [if you havent got it already] IMHO. Youll probably want the socket for the lights on a different circuit to everything else or youll probably keep overloading it [my 5 computers can overload a 2-phase plug and they are no where near that power level].

People run backyard spraybooths all the time. Heat lamps are 250W each and its normal to use 5 per panel for 30 mins [you do not leave this crap on overnight or the boss threatens to bill you apparently - heh].

It is soooooo easy to do if you have an old meter. Has to be one that has the set of dials on it and a disc that revolves as the power is being used. I have seen it done but too f--king wary to try it myself. I would rather pay the extra $200 added to my power bill. Makes you wonder what is the safest tho. To steal the power and keep your bill at the same level or to have your bill jump thru the ceiling...that really gives them reason to start investigating. Why one bill at say $100 for 61 days and then all of a sudden it is $300. Think about it.
