MORE than 100kg of cannabis dumped in a creek near Warrnambool was past its best before date, according to police.

The 71 packages discovered in Mount Emu Creek were found over two days from October 26 after packages were first discovered by a local farmer.

In an initial search of the creek police found 51 bags of the drug, before an anonymous tip a day later lead them to 18 more packages dumped nearby.

Valued at over $700,000, had it still been in a viable condition, the major haul would put the health of anyone attempting to use it in jeopardy and was no longer saleable.

It is believed to have been dumped between October 23 and October 26 by a person driving across the Warrymea Road Bridge in nearby Framlingham.

Police from Warrnambool’s Divisional Tasking Unit and Crime Investigation Unit are receiving support from the Drug Task Force with the drugs wrapped in a seemingly professional way.

Det Sen Sgt Mark Canavan, manager of the region's crime investigations, said the drugs were sheathed in tight, clear plastic and would have likely required the use of a commercial machine.

Anyone with any information or who finds similar packages is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to visit www.crimestoppers.com.au (Don't hold your breath officer - KF)

If you think about it theres probably hundreds of pounds of trichrome coated tip being destoryed eveyday day by commercial growers in Australia. I mean think about how much bud is grown and sold thoughout the country everyday, yet no hash industry. They must be just destorying the tip.

Seems like a waste to me. But from the growers point of view it probably makes good sense. I mean large amounts of hash would be really hard to get rid of in Australia and if you get done with it the penalty is going to be much harsher than if you just get done with bud.

It would be nice to know a few commercial growers so you could help them dispense of it.

Peace
