Lumatek from USA

Recommended Posts

As far as buying from the states goes i can say this, if you use pay-pal you normally wont have a problem, and will receive your goods. Customs don't G.A.F what your buying as long as its legal, ballasts are legal to import into this country. The small inconvenience of having to buy a power led and change a plug on a pair of 1000w quantum ballasts that arrived from the u/s 7 days after I paid them, was nothing compared to the $$ that stayed in my pocket.

I realize we all must be fully aware of the consequences of our actions, remember we all take chances, its the nature of the green beast.

Hardly worth the effort.... Im sue u could get better than those oz prices you listed with a servicable warranty........ The cost of the setup really is irrelevant in the greater scheme, so stop counting pennys....

I for obe am far more omfortable walking into a store with cash than using cards, paypal or some other traceable transaction for a purchase......and dont care if i pay slightly more, its in my hands, in my room, and floweringmy babies, not fucking aoround getting rejected at customs or me wasting my time at fucking tandy for a $2 power cord....

If you can point me in the direction of a new 1000W lumatek ballast with warranty in Australia for Under AU$345 delivered I'm keen to see it.

And i don't mean that in a smart ass way, I mean that in a I want that deal way.

The cost of the setup is completely relevant if you have a set budget to work too. Like me.

If i walked into my local growies and purchase a 1000w lumatek straight of the shelf i would have no money left for an exhaust fan. They want nearly $500!

Millions of transactions go through paypal everyday, I personaly am not worried about 1 ballast being posted to me and i don't need to have the ballast sent to the address i intend to grow at if I am concerned.

I am a very patient person and can wait a bit longer if it means my overall outcome increases significantly.

Any money i can save will be reinvested into my grow room, as my budget is set and I intend to spend every dollar on the project.

It is my first project, I want to get decent gear straight of the bat. Once set up, I am not planning on expanding my project as it is all for personal enjoyment.

Taking my time to get it right, have read all about Lumatek and they sound top notch.

No worries, I paid $606 for x2 1000w quantum digital dimmable ballasts ie you can operate them @ 1000w 750w or 500w, handy for striking clones and leaves a scrambled power footprint, also costs less to run on the lower settings. $606 is the delivered price.

The shops round my neck of the woods didn't have ballasts with the above features, they had lumlux 1000w non dimmable for $400 a pop. I shopped round in oz in other states the prices were nearly all the same for the lumlux plus delivery of around $80aud. Fuck that!

The math goes something like this

Quantum D/B $247usd each. conversion $240 aud

Post for both was $130 usd '' '' $126 aud

The saving is close to $200.

I don't have anything to do with Quantum or any other ballast suppliers, I just refuse to have a new one ripped every time i want something.

Wake up oz sellers ffs.

Fair point, what is thenexact dollar difference, please quote brand and model numbers so we can do fair comparisons in oz.....

G`day, I`m always looking for a bargain but the risk of having to return to US at my cost is a major kicker...the $$$ and the downtime. A few other issues there too, namely looking after my own economy above that of America.

A local friendly shop could sort out things with a phone call and a quick drive if things go sth on you.

I dont want to start an arguement here but think about it for a moment please...

Old mate wants to buy from the US, a country of 200 million ppl, the local suppliers are dealing with retail giants whom service near the equivalent of our population through just a couple of outlets...state for state. Imagine the buying power of those Co`s, Walmart, Costco, et al...

Our local hydro supply shops deal mainly with localised customers, a few ballasts a year maybe in the case of my local. Poor old shopkeep pays taxes, import duties, wages, shopfront expenses, etc, etc...

Above that he cant buy a ballast wholesale for the price the big boys are retailing them OS...

Here`s a quick EG : I wanted a flash motherboard and a particular CPU to cater to my son`s overclocking obsession (me old Athlon1800+ running constant 1720 anyone...? heheh). I could get it delivered to my door from UK for around $260au...One of the bigger stores told me to do it, they could`nt supply the CPU alone for under $280 plus postage if they wanted to make $20 from the sale...

That`s the Sunday rant over...Good luck with your endeavors no matter which way you go
