ideas for the garden bed in my new house

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :bongon:

After moving house and being offline for a few weeks I finally have the internet back (don't know how people ever lived without it). For those of you who didn't see my first topic, I am growing durbans poisons (started with 5, 3 are still alive) guerrilla style for my first grow ever. They are 3 weeks old and seem to be doing fine (as far as a first grower can tell) even though they have all had quite a tough life due to my inexperience  If you want some pics of the bad boys then just ask and I will post some to this topic

However, now that I have moved house unexpectedly, there could be an opportunity to grow some in the backyard as well as out bush

Now, I pretty much have zero gardening experience (apart from what I've learned in the past few weeks thanks to our favourite plant) but I can definitely see potential in this backyard as a stealthy little grow area (or just a nice garden). So I am posting this topic for some starting ideas as to what I can do with this wonderful garden bed in the new backyard. Here are some pics to give you an idea with what I have to work with

They are an attempt at giving you a view of the whole garden bed in context with rest of backyard / fence -.- (behind me is the back fence)

So straight away I am thinking just completely scrap the two bushes with red flowers?...like I said I am no gardener, but they look to me like they are seriously old / unhealthy / ugly. Other than that I guess I am just looking at advice on:

- What I can do to improve the soil of the whole bed

- What plants can I put in there that will look nice / camouflage MJ?

- And I guess, best LST techniques?

Realistically, I do not mind if I manage to hide some MJ in there or not (as I still plan on planting at my guerrilla site). I have just acquired a passion for gardening thanks to MJ so would like this to be my first endeavor as even I can see great potential for a nice garden ^_^ a little ganja in there would def be a bonus tho :applause:

So, to wrap it up, I guess what I'm asking for is some general advice on what I can do with the above garden bed and, if anyone can point me to some sites that will help my new found gardening passion flourish

Thanks guys, :peace:

Hey there Walt,

there's a bloody big drain in your back yard. are you renting or do you own the house? Either way. Do the council need access to the drain?

also noticed that your fence near the drain has wide spacings. You may want to take that into account when positioning your plants. what with courious folks next door and such. Anyway, lets hope you get a few in the ground and growing with out issue.

Cheers brother

More importantly, what direction is north? Ideally you want your plants to get a good bit of light so north facing is ideal. And to make the soil better, go and buy stuff like

Compost

Worm Castings

Manures, all different types

Any organic matter really will help it along a lot. If you can find this stuff, go and buy 4-5 bags and mix it all up in there

5 in 1 It's the one at the top.

Best of luck

It is a rental mate and I did not even think about the council needing access to that drain but I'm sure they would at some point. Anyway I think I may have been a little over zealous to think I could get a stealth grow going in my backyard for my first grow so will put the idea on hold for now.

I'll get right to work on the garden tho

Cheers for the advice fellas!
