questions about cloning

a friend told me that growing from hydro seeds,your plants wont grow very good buds till the third generation,does this mean that you hve to clone three times to get the best generation,(clone your mother plant then clone your clone).confused

Someone may be confused a bit. If you grow to clone from seed then buds produced will be more potent after about 6 months of growing with Indica dominant strains and longer with Sativa dominant supposedly [and after this time they dont get any better - I dont know if they get worse though].

 

This means if you grow from seed and take clones after 2 months then they wont be as potent as clones taken a few months later. Also if you flower plants grown from seed too early then the buds wont be as potent as they could be.

 

This all makes sense as plants do seem to mature [they get woody stems, a few big roots and preflower and dont do all this until maturity].

 

If anything hydroponically grown plants would increase potency IMHO as conditions can be made almost perfect.

i have never heard of that 3rd generation thing. and i did not know that it made any diffference on the strength or size of buds; as to how old the mother is. but heres something; a plant that is grown from seed will generally be more vigorous then a plant grown from a clone
