Two men have been charged after cannabis with a street value of $1.25 million was seized on the NSW central coast.

Police were patrolling the Pacific Highway at North Wyong when they noticed a strong smell of cannabis about midnight on Sunday.

A short time later, police went to a residence on the Pacific Highway and knocked on the door.

When no one answered, police established a guard at the property and applied for a search warrant.

While waiting, police allegedly saw two people running from the house into nearby bushland.

A police dog unit found two men, who were arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station.

Police raided the property about 6.30am (AEDT) and allegedly located 288 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $1.25 million.

Police also seized a quantity of cannabis leaf, 150 power transformers and a large quantity of lighting and hydroponic equipment.

The two men were charged with possessing a prohibited plant, cultivating a prohibited plant greater than commercial quantity, and using electricity without authority.

They were both refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Monday.

WOW 288 PLANTS AND NO ONE THOUGHT .........'HEY WE MIGHT NEED A FEW CARBON FILTERS GUYS?? '

but i bet most of em were clones.

That's what I was thinking, otherwise it would have to a pretty big house.

A long time ago I read an interview with an ex-cop or something like that and he said the cops mostly just put the uprooted plant on the scales to measure and they add up the total and multiply it by the going street rate at the time (i.e $20/gram) so, like this article, they have to be read with slight skepticism.

I don't know if this is true or not however not long after I saw a news article and the weight and "value" worked out to be 20/gram so I figured he must've been telling the truth abut "most cops".

The clone explanation would probably be why they don't mention the weight of the haul.
