Ladybirds

Recommended Posts

G'day all :hi:

I've got a few Spider Mites and Fungus Gnats in my magic cupboard, and I'm not keen on spraying anything on my beautiful buds.... So, I went hunting.

For those that don't know, Ladybirds LOVE eating the pests that love eating Cannabis, as do their young. A short walk to the neighbours roses, and I found what I was looking for.

Ladybird larva. We all know what a Ladybird adult looks like, but these are their babies...

Also, just wanted to say that there is a "bad" ladybug. From starting my veggie garden (encouraged from growing weed) I've seen first hand the work of the bad ladybug. This one has 28 spots and eats through leaves. I have not had too many issues on the weed, but it does eat the shit out of my eggplants and caps.

Hey Puka

Those yellow ladybugs are your zucch's best friends. Zucchini is prone to mildew and these yellow ladybugs devour mildew. i actually had to rip mine out cause all the rain and my lack of zucch knowledge (overhead watering) caused major mildew problems, and it was spreading to my cucumbers.

The bad ladybug is red and looks so similiar to the common red ladybug. I guess it's more orangey and has a matte body as opposed to shiney. The ladybug leaves marks on the leaves that kind of look like a small track, it eats right through. If I spot them again, I'll post a pic.
