Beaker
AFOAF's seedlings started to slant.... eventually it fell over and died... This was my introduction to what is known as 'Damping-off' Basically this is a fungal attack that you can do little about. The best way to prevent this (if this is actually what you have) is to bake your seed raising mix in the oven for an hour or so on a med-high setting... this will prevent the fungus from attacking your seeds or seedlings... now... it may be on your seed coats... so if the baking doesn't make any difference then I suggest giving your seeds a wash in diluted hydrogen peroxide as well as the baking.. Luke Skywalker
Excessive watering and too high humidity are the main causes of damping off. Hydro systems can use h2o2, but I'm not too sure you'd want to be using it in a soil based plant, as you're going to kill most of the beneficial bacteria and other soil biota as well as the fungus... Best cure? Prevention.
