Three seniors ended up in hospital suffering from nausea and dizziness after being served a surprise pick-me-up at a wake for a friend.

 

Two women, 71, and a man, 82, complained of illness after filling up on brownies containing marijuana.

 

According to police, the mourners had no idea they were biting off more than they could chew when the brownies were served up, the Guardian website reports.

 

The ill residents, from California's Huntington Beach, only knew they were in strife when they couldn't stand up and began feeling sick.

 

Wake organisers had reportedly baked the illegal treats in order to send their friend out on a high.

Yeah I wouldn't call it funny either, anyone who has overdosed on edibles will know it can be a very unpleasant ride. I'd be turning up at the hospital too if I didn't know what was happening.

Actually the posts here are funnier. I kept hearing overdose with the usual meaning attached. Until I realised that ODing in relation to cannabis is a totally different thing and I just laughed to myself.

Obviously it has never happened to you. Over consumption of cannabis laced food is not a nice experience, it's quite scary even when you know what is happening.

I agree Lou Lou. A green out can be very unpleasant. They probably thought they had botulism. Irresponsible to do that to anyone let alone 70/80 year olds. Racing heart! I bet they thought they were going to join their friend.

I was gonna stay out of this but I just can't help myself.. The suppliers should have made it clear that the brownies were "special"that is for sure... The poor old ducks wouldn't have had a clue what was happening (except that it may have felt like some medication they recieved pre 1940's)

 

Man I love greening out.. If I am on my own and don't have to try and act all tough and stuff.. that buzzing feeling pumping through every nerve ending, just lying on the couch or even better on a cold floor... it is awesome... however, if you are 80something at a wake and not expecting it definately a trip to the hospital, Because, you would not have aclue wtf was going on... I feel for the oldies, but it was in memory of someone who loved a choof ( I assume).. I reiterate, the people/person responsible should have made it absolutly clear what was in the brownies....

I've done that before and it was a mostly pleasant experience (besides the motion sickness near the end), however you won't die no matter how much you consume which what made me laugh, that I forgot what overdosing meant when talking about cannabis because I've heard it so often connected to other drugs.
