Bust seizes 67 drug plants

SIXTY-seven cannabis plants with a potential

street value of $2500 each have

been seized in the Lockyer Valley.

A man and a woman were charged in

relation to the drug bust on Monday, part

of the Toowoomba Tactical Crime Unit’s

(TTCU) latest drug-focused operation —

Operation Croodle.

Denis John Land, 54, appeared in Toowoomba

Magistrates Court on charges of

possessing and producing a dangerous

drug, exceeding the schedule limit and

possessing property suspected of being

used in the commission of a crime.

A 64-year-old woman is yet to appear

on the same charges. TTCU officer-incharge

Senior Sergeant Mark Kelly said

a 12-metre shipping container, 1kg of

dried cannabis, five air-conditioners and

two generators were also seized from the

Thornville property.

In addition to the Thornville pair, 38

drug-related search warrants were executed

in the Laidley police division during

the two-day operation, resulting in 28

people being charged with a total of 62

offences including drug, property and

weapons offences.

Officers from the TTCU, the State

Drug Investigation Squad, Ipswich Tactical

Crime Unit, Crows Nest, Goombungee

and Lockyer Valley police
