The US government will announce today, a state-wide crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries.

 

U.S. Attorneys have sent out letters to at least 16 dispensaries in California, notifying them that they have 45 days to shutdown or face prosecution and confiscation of their assets. Besides sending nasty letters to the pot clubs, the attorneys also sent letters to landlords threatening to confiscate their property and demanding all rent proceeds ever received from the clubs.

 

 

So the Obama administration has decided to go back on its promise not to prosecute anyone so long as they are in compliance with state law regarding medical cannabis.

federal law "takes precedence over state law and applies regardless of the particular uses for which a dispensary is selling and distributing marijuana."

 

"Under United States law, a dispensary's operations involving sales and distribution of marijuana are illegal and subject to criminal prosecution and civil enforcement actions," letters signed by U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy in San Diego read. "Real and personal property involved in such operations are subject to seizure by and forfeiture to the United States ... regardless of the purported purpose of the dispensary."

Don't always believe what you may only read.

These 16 were flagrant violators of the law and dished cannabis out freely to just about anyone.

The other multitude of dispenaries are Ok.

In fact they were the ones who revealed these so-called "clinics"

It's getting all fucked up over there, the Feds are going to let the big Pharma companies grow but stop anyone else. It's all about the money, you won't be able to grow it but you will be able to go to the doctor and pay for it.

Try going to a Pharma. here in Australia and you'll see what I mean.

Damn I was actually planning a trip to the LA in early-mid next year once all my legal matters are cleared.

 

I hope it's still feasible for me to visit a dispensary providing I do all the right things about getting a referral, etc.

They need to be very careful cause a few bad apples will make the whole bunch bad.

the ones that remain open, do they now owe some kinda federal tax?

It looks like bad news for these dispensarys, it's not only the dodgy ones but also some longtime legit ones as well. The FEDs have sent letters to the owner's of the buildings the dispensarys are in stating if these illegal operations are not closed down in so many days they will be seized with other assets. I other words, if they don't evict their in a shit load of trouble. Also any dispensary within something like 50 metres of a park, school, public building, shit like that has to close.

What a backwards step for the cause. Good work gov, now you can spend more taxpayers money trying to achieve something that you'll soon realise won't work and then turn round and go 'O.K, maybe.... on these conditions'.

Why cant they like every other human being use some common god dam initiative and say 'hey maybe we should learn from our mistakes' but no it tends to be more like ........'ahh fuck it, lets keep going'
