Res draining - help

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have upgraded my res to a 220lt barrel but am finding that my barrel seems to be draining really fast - overnight seemingly.

A friend has said that with the pressure of so much water in the barrel, after my timer has switched of it my be syphoning through my system to my plants untill the barrel is dry ??

Has anyone else had similar probs ??

If so how did you resolve it. I know I could perhaps half fill the barrel but that kinda defeats the larger res upgrade....

Thanks

Are you outdoor or indoor? It shoudn't be that hard to tell where the water is going anyway.

There are various kinds of pressure reducers you should be able to get at a hardware or irrigation place. If you cant get a pressure reducer even a tap in the line half closed or more will help the problem if you get me.

Naycha :peace:

if u have a pump in a barrel with the hose going up out of the barrel than down to the ground once u turn the pump off the water will gravity flow by its self untill your barrel is empty as your seeing there is an easy fix if your outdoors dig a hole deep enough to bury the barrel if your indoors raise your feeder hose to the height of the top of the barrel or install a digital garden watering timer to shut off the water flow once the plants have been watered
