Ok, I have stayed outta this one, but f**k me if I'm going to anymore. I know electronics, I hold a Cert in it. I also know my shit when it comes to lighting.

Under 3 0r 5w LED's, ya wasting ya time. If it's not a CREE LED also ya wasting ya time.

I was looking into and having discussions with Cali LEDS, 2-3 years ago.

So if ya wanna come at me with ya tech, I'll be all to happy too hit ya with the facts.

Hey buddy, I find it a bit amussing that you are prepared to slag this guy off about LED's when he clearly states you get what you pay for. I am new to the growing thing and have just started out. This is my first post and I am yet to post my photos and info on what my set up is but I can tell you one thing for sure, if you paid only $170 or even $200 then that is why you LED lights are shit. I paid allot more than that I am extremly happy with my LED's. In 28 days my plants are bushy and standing proud, leaves are green as green can be and they are looking healthy. I just hope that you are able to keep an opened mind to what is going on out in the world today.

I have friends that use HID and even they are pretty surprised on how well my first grow is doing under LED's. I am yet to get to flowering stage but I will be more than happy to keep you up to date when that happens, but until then I will not make any bullshit stories as I feel this is a place for help and advise not tell porky pies.

Gotta love a guy, who spends a shitload of money on lights he's never tried except for Veg and posts Pic's of someone elses grow in flower. Geebus!

Now I wanna see your plants in a diary until they are harvested..... we all post pictures here, so suck it up and put ya money where ya mouth is.

After 28 days veg, any plant is going to be healthy and bushy as long as ya not growing under a bloody 23w CFL.

Maybe....just maybe..... we know what were talking about.....

For that price of lights you spent, you coulda bought aSulpher Plasma Lamp and had some real light. And that technology is cutting edge. LED's been trying to prove their point for near 20 years..... still lacking in spectrum and in affordability.

Nice work mate, stick to them HID user that just complain and say everything is shit. Times do change and so does the technology but for some people that do not have the ability to READ and look into things because it is too hard they just stick with what they know and just stay in the one place.

If you had the ability to do some research instead of just slaggin off other peoples work you might be able to find the information you would want on LED's here is a little artical on some really smart people that may have an idea on what are they are doing, try to take the time and give it a read it might surprise and might not who knows but I do know they are not thinking of using HID lights in space. http://www.sti.nasa....f2010/cg_1.html

Well some people actually aquire knowledge through education, not through Google dave. We stick with HID cause they work, and well. When they come out with something affordable that works as well, you let me know, hey.

N.A.S.A don't use HID because of the limited power available on a space station or shuttle, not because LED's grow better. And if NASA aint got the spectrums right with all their boffins, maybe it ain't gonna happen.

Check out california lightworks 'solarstorm' models. Have a look at 'growbigtv' on youtube also for some comparison grows including a Blackstar v penetrator grow.

All the panels you can buy on ebay , UFO , 225 panels ect are shit dont bother. If you want to spend 2k check out CLW for sure , theyre running a growers program for u.s buyers where they get it half price for reporting their results that makes the 800w with U.V.B under 1k for them but you can get one for 1900 less import tax.

They are the first i've seen running 5w chipset. Blackstars i think run 3w and they're the cheapest id go.

Id love to see some local results from a big unit but ive gotta say its a bit like buying a 5k TV at the moment , you'll go for a piss and there will be a cheaper bigger better model out when you come back.

Personally i'd wait 12 months and let the yanks prove the tech and start pumping out quality units for less.

Keep us updated

Tac.

Edit . just realised i only read page 1 . hope this still applies!!

California Lightworks and me were discussing me distributing their products in Australia at one stage a year or so ago, but after finding out how many panels someone would need to light the same area a 1000w would handle and the prohibitive prices they were charging for each panel, it wasnt viable..... and the spectrum STILL wasn't right. Also after you start getting into bigger LED chip sets the heat increases and power saving goes down.

On the subject of led I am waiting for some seeds from good old bonza if I get them I am doing two grows of the same seed one 400w hps and the other useing a 120w led set up for flowering so everything else being the same nutes ect. We shall see the difference. The led is from Singapore by a company called led Princess google them and see i think they are the real good ones made specialy for indoor growing they use a combination of red, blue and orange leds for flowering and another specific mainly blue and orange for vedging, They use a combination of .7,1 and 3 watt leds the specs are on the web site i am a sparky so I researched the light output 3,360 lumens (approx 600w hps) for 120watts they do a 300watt grow led as well and can custom make them for you. I know hps works well but I want to see if this is as good as it sounds. Best of all under $300.00 shipped airmail in under 6 days. I turned it on to check it out and its VERY bright, Brighter than a 400w hps I have and dedicated to flowering spectrum. Ok time will tell July or August I will have the proof I will post pictures as they grow especialy if it is ground breaking as its 25% of the power bill. I hope this will help in the debate.

Mate don't waste ya time on the cheap LED panels, thats at least one thing these guys got right...... lol . Save ya money.

Also ya talking shit, my 80w CFL is 5300 lumens, a 600w Son-T Agro is 88,000 lumens.

Also Lumens measurements are useless on LED panels, they are different and the best measurement for them is Umoles and the PAR spectrum because there is less of the visable light spectrum being used.

All you guys need to do ya homework PROPERLY and get an understanding of what ya talking about. Before ya shout down members here remember they probably been growing for years, and seen every fad imaginable , come, and go..... HID's are still here, they changed to digital ballasts, but they still here........ Wonder Why?

Peace. Nibbler.

^^ could have left me out of ya burn there nibbler. Seeing as we pretty much agree. All I was saying is if he HAS to spend 1900 on a panel, that's the place to do it.

I'm not for Led one bit, but I'd rather see op take a solarstorm over any other producer.

No disrespect intended mate like I said we're in aggreance here.

lol, we all good T.A.C. , your right, get the best one ya can get if ya gonna go down that path. I see an LED thread every few weeks mate, always the same arguement, but no LED grows on here backing it up, so lets see em eh? Thats all I'm saying.

You had a valid point man about Quality of LED panels, so I used you as a quote, no harm meant or intended, will retract that one, if it offends you. Thought my reply to it was Ok.

Peace. Nibbler

:thankyou: Thats the spirit T.A.C. =) . Not askin for people to take a side, just askin they use their Brains. If I was an L.E.D panel seller I'd have a video of some amazing grow, "supposedly" grown under that panel, even if it was by a friend........on Pootube.......

If LED's are so good, why don't commercial greenhouse growers use em? They use the best preforming products they can get, is why. Wholesalers make it their buisness to get these guys to try their new products, so if they not using them, theres a problem.

At best LED's are a novelty, at their worst, a scam. How many people spent good money on UFO's and Shit panels, only to be dissappointed?........

Whats worse is when ya spend ALOT of money for "supposedly" decent panels and get the same mediocre resuts....must be heart breaking.

They mostly manufactured in China with Substandard LED's, underpowered, and overpriced. Ones that are made well still cant get the output right...

They actually NEVER have been approved for shop sales in Australia. You know why , because we have an Australian Standards test for products. Every product sold in Australia MUST deliver what the manufacturer states. LED panels do not comply with these regulations because they can't back up their own bullshit.

I also notice alot of you guys pushin LED panels as "The New Messiah" are NEW to growing........ says it all really........... Peace. Nibbler.

Apparently it is suspected that those pics had HPS assistance !!

Still it is Easter time..He may be just enjoying his fruits?

Can't wait to read more about this.. :air_kiss:
