250 Watt fluro light

Hey, I've just started growing 2x Burmese Kush under my 250 watt fluro light.

they've been like 1 day into veg stage.

my question is I don't have a HPS light at all, I'm about to order one with a grow tent etc but that won't be for another 1-2 months.

 

So in that time, these plants will have hit the flowering stage.

I do realise it's best to use a HPS for flowering for more bud etc, but do you think a fluro would be okay?

Like.. it kinda sucks, but it's going to have to do, what do yous think? will it be ok?

If it's all you have it will be fine, like you said not as good as hps but it will give you a bit of practice and I've actually seen some decent buds from fluros too.

heres a grow i done a fair few years ago when the 130w CFL's first came out i used a single 130w could have been 100w i cant remember and u ised two bunnings 50w CFL's

 

thats a single plant in a wardrobe it was just random bag seed i didnt get to finish flowering it

You will still get good buds under CFL, you will just yield less than a HPS. There should be no difference in potency (which is mostly dependant on strain and harvest timing).

 

I hope you do follow through with using the 250w CFL for the whole grow, because I have not seen many examples with a 250 watter. I have done 3 grows under a 130w CFL (2700k) with yields around 20 to 24g (using auto strains and harvesting from seed in 8 weeks).

has anyone used one of these 100,130,200,250w CFL's in a 2 foot chinamans hat yet? this shade would put 100% of the bulb to use as u can plant around the whole bulb

Sorry, haven't used a chinahat, just used the shade that came with the light package.

I started off with 250 watt fluro 6500K. Worked very well. I also had a 250 watt 2500K fluro but never used it and went to 250 HPS.

But you really don't need too much fluro horsepower when in Veg.

 

the main diff is 250 watt fluro 2500k is around 65% of the lumens you will get compared to HPS of the same wattage
