hi all...

well there is hope yet.as some of you know....i had a nice crop going, only to have it stripped by some lazy fucker that cannot b bothered growing their own.25 2 and a 1/2 ft plants, and abot another 20 seedlings.all gone cept for one plant and one of the seedlings....thy missed these.we r having really good growing weather here in brisbane at the moment so this has set me back a bit.

but someone on ozstoners has come to the rescue!!!!i won't post the name for security reasons....but thanku all cause i wouldn't have met up with them if ozstoners wasn't around!

my basic plan is this...i expect to recieve seeds wed/thurs....and i will germinate them straight away.(i will probably habng onto about 10 this time tho...just in case...i am expecting about 100...pretty genourous, heh?)

on wed(this is payday, u see) i will purchase the lights...as many as i can afford...

i am going to probly start in soil...cost is a big issue....and as i want to grow 1 inside crop of about 30 plants, and another 30 outside in two different places,so i need advice on lighting and germination.

what is everybody fail-safe way to germinate...i think i will do the simple plate with a bit of wet towel on it, on top of my fridge(it gets really warm there) with another plate on top...covered with another box to keep it real dark.

on the lights....what do u ppl think about secondhand shop fluros?????

how woyuld one attach a timer for these???

and how much is rockwool?other hydro growing mediums?????

30 inside plants and another 30 outside is a lot. This is a site for personal growers. If you are trying to get big crops to make money you are in the wrong place. However if you want help setting up a personal grow then you will find all the help you need around here.

 

Perhaps a good starting point is to tell us how much you smoke, then we can have some idea what kind of setup might suit your needs. Let me tell ya no matter how much you smoke you won't need 30 plants.

pipe man is this really alot of plants...i do not want to sell...not at all...in fact that is why i am growing...because i am soooo against selliif i don't need to grow this many plants....i would be stupid to...but i don't want to have to buy ever again.i smoke an awful lot....about an oz myself....but i probably shout ppl another 1/2 oz....how many plants do u think then...

i would be intrested to know how much other ppl grow too...and do u ever need to buy now???

OK then. You should have two setups, one for mother & clones, and another for flower. If you have vegged clones ready to go at end of each flower cycle you will have minimal downtaime flowering. With a good indoor strain you will easily be harvesting every 2 months. Now 1.5ounces a week is 12 ounces every harvest. I would suggest you would need two 400watters, or a 600 or maybe even 1000. Experienced growers can get 12ounces from a 400watter, but as a newbie you will find it difficult to get yields like this. You could run two cupboards with a 400watter in each

 

Your flowering room will need to be about 4 foot x 4 foot, or maybe narrower and wider. Your mother/clone area could fit in a cupboard 3 foot wide. 1 foot deep and 4-5foot high of thereabouts. The whole setup might end up costing around $750.

 

Have a read through the site and you will soon get an idea of the basics.

I feel paranoid when I have 1 plant - I think Id leave the country if 30 started budding.

read through the whole thing with a pen and paper handy, so that you can write questions that spring to mind.

 

Now I would completely remove the thought of 30 plants, indoors as if you have been around a grow in flower before then you will recognise the stentch that MJ flowers produce,

 

I struggle to keep the smell of 2 plants under control and Ive got a $300-00 ozone machine designed to eliminate the smell.

 

if you tried to grow more than 2 at a time then you really are asking for trouble, as its usually the smell that tips cops off.

 

ok that aside heres what I would do in your situation,

 

a/ Price all the equipment required, ie nutes etc. then save up for the gear BEFORE you bother to germinate your seeds.

 

b/ ok now the cheapest way IMO is to buy a second hand hydro setup out of the trading post BUT buy a brand new bulb on your way home.

(I started with a second hand setup out of the trading post and it cost me about $200-00, and it was complete withj ph testers, hydro nutes, hydroton, shit everything),

 

c/ OR if thats a bit too expensive then go to bunnings and buy yourself a few self watering pots (Square ones), and some basic potting mix.

hand water the plants.

d/ Buy yourself a NEW fluro light, I prefer a double tube model,

 

AS far as getting the seeds up, you have many different ways and the good old paper towel works well,

I have used that way in the past but just recently have started sticking the seeds in rockwool and then throw them on ya fridge and sit them in about 1/2 inch of water mixed with some Nutriboost or Superthrive,

altough superthrive is better in soil due to the way it leaves a thin film over the media which turns a ugly colour.

 

You then have a few options open to you, but if you dont have transport then may I suggest a mail order hydro company,

thanks so much for everyones advice.

what i think i am going to do is start my grow room under my house.like many qlders, my house is a two storey.at one side of my home the outside is completly camaflaged with plants.just to begin with, because money i have will b spent on lights initially, i will start in soil...tho this isn't definate yet...got to check out rock wool prices...

so...initially, my grow room can be up to 5x5x 1.5m....but the question seems to be that i may not need to grow as much as i thought!!!!

this is gr8...cause less plants means less lights!!!lesslights means less initial outlay.

basically, at the moment, i am trying to figure out how much light i will need for the right number of plants to keep me in an oz a week.....so tell me what u lot do!!!!

looks like i will probably start with compact fluros...but i am not sure yet how many i will buy.costs are kept down cause i am making the rooms walls with a super thick canvas...and two layers of it,,,def no light gets out od there

about this smell thing...i am sooo worried...i have ashite sense of smell...and when i have grown (outside) b4, the smell was never an issue.as my room will b just 7 metres from neighbours fence, this is a big issue.my remaining plant doesn't give off much odour...tho like i said my sense of smell is shite, so apart from that ozone thgingy...what do other ppl do???
