Time from planting to harvest depends on the strain and when you plant outdoors.

Mango is a good yielder outdoors. lol

A good mix for outdoors is 1:1:1 compost, peat, soil and some blood and bone. Using urea and potash also will let you boost N and K for veg and bloom. :P

Harvest is when the days drop to 12 hours long + the amount of weeks flowering. there-abouts.

Most outdoor strains in the Bris. area finish around easter. A lot depends on this of course, but that's time of year you'll be looking at.

Fertaliser...is compost ok? Hell yes. But it depends on if you're dragging the compost far to your hidey hole or not. If you're along ways in, then you might be best off with concentrated stuf. The best I've used, and was basically understood the way to go for many years was 20/20/20. They tell me rose fertaliser is often 20/20/20, but you will need a fair bit over time, if you're going to be at it for a few years anyway.

Go to the produce store, and ask for a bag (40KG) of corn fertaliser. (maize, not sweet). Just check it is 20/20/20, or somthing close to it, as things may have changed in recent years, but I doubt that will have. Throw a handfull in the hole a fair way down from where the roots are, so the plant doesn't just forget about mining, which will give the plant the root strength she'll need to hold up that magnificent crop of buds you'll be harvesting.

Compost...it has it's problems. well, one mainly. It attracts animals to the grow site you might prefer wheren't there. Mainly echidnas (wombats down south), but a few others. Compost holds moisture, which of course is good for the plants. Also good for worms and other creatures. creatures that digging animals like to eat. And they don't pay no never mind to your plants either while they're burrowing for worms. They can smell composting material for miles, cause that's where their food is. While you're trapsing through the scrub doing all this, keep your eyes open for an echidna tearing into an old dead tree for ants and what not. You'll see what I mean about not wanting them around your plants. They'll tear the roots out with each powerful swipe of their paws, and smash ya plant down if it gets too much in the way.

If you really want to use compost (and who can blame ya), lay chicken wire flat on the ground and peg it out. Cut holes in the wire for the plants to come up through, just a few inches across. Then scatter leaf and dirt over the wire so it doesn't attract attention.

What strain? Mullum Madnes I reckon, if you can get it. I haven't grown it in recent years, but there's a bit of it getting around at the moment, and who cares if people hold if the strain is real or not, the seed getting around as mullum mmadness will do you fine. Big plants, good grass.

Failing that, go for some African strains perhaps, or some Thai. But some African strains get really big. Of course there's more, but personal taste, and where your nose leads you will be more relevant than anything I can tell you.

good luck.
