Melbourne man to face drug charges in Sydney

Recommended Posts

A Melbourne man will be extradited to Sydney to face charges of being involved in a major interstate drug ring.

Twenty people were arrested last week after police raided 35 properties in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

An out-of-sessions court in Melbourne was told 37-year-old Jason Peter Scott of Ringwood North was a major player in the drug ring, which transported $100 million of cannabis to Sydney over the past three years.

It is alleged the drugs were hidden inside false petrol tanks in four-wheel-drive vehicles.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court has today been told Mr Scott had agreed to be extradited to New South Wales.

He is expected to appear in the Sydney Central Local Court tomorrow charged with supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis.
