quite exuast fan

Recommended Posts

If you are pushing air through a carbon filter you will need a centrifugal fan, unfortunately, all of these are pretty noisy. I have my exhaust setup hanging from the roof inside the manhole: Carbon Filter<---Silencer<---Centrifugal Fan<---Silencer<---Acoustic Duct<---Grow Tent. Also have a towel wrapped around fan and tape along all seals, would stop probably 80 - 90% of noise.

i had issues trying to keep the noise down too...

I put my centrifual fan in a wooded box, inside lined with carpet and rags, but the sound travels along the length of the duct still

so you really need a silencer, even a home made one

also you can hear it through the wall of the duct, so you need acoustic duct or seal all ducting inside something too

make a fan speed controller as per instructions on this site, using a ceiling fan control knob

better to have a big fan running half speed than a small fan working at full

Build a damper. Two otto bins end to end filled with perlite. Sit the fan in the centre and two chicken wire tubes to run through each bin to the end where you connect the ducting. Wrap each wire tube with cloth so it doesn't suck the perlite through the system. Might look like a mini hubble telescope but works a treat
