Drug crop, lab uncovered

Recommended Posts

A MARIJUANA crop and a clandestine drugs lab have been uncovered by police in separate raids in Queensland.

Almost three thousand cannabis plants, dried leafy material and other equipment were found by police in raids at Milmerran, south-west of Brisbane yesterday.

Police said they went to several addresses in the town after information was given to Crime Stoppers.

A spokeswoman said at one address police found a large quantity of plants, seedlings, seeds and equipment.

She said a Millmerran man would appear in court at a later date to face charges of possession and production of dangerous drugs.

Another Millmerran resident would also appear on a charge of failing to dispose of a used syringe correctly.

The spokeswoman said three other people would be dealt with through a drugs diversion program for possession of dangerous drugs or possession of implements such as pipes.

A raid on a unit on the Gold Coast highway at Surfers Paradise overnight found a clandestine laboratory and a quantity of drugs in liquid form.

Police said they went to the unit at 9pm (AEST) after receiving a tip-off.

They said a 47-year-old man would appear in Southport Magistrates Court today charged with the production of amphetamines, while a 29-year-old woman would face charges of permitting premises to be used for the production of a dangerous drug.
