Soil PH and dolomite lime

Recommended Posts

So, here's the deal.

My babies are burning (see pic) and I can't figure out why. I have added ZERO nutes to them - only rain water and the soil. It's possible that the heat of the new warm lamp (I recently graduated my babies from the seedling fluoros) may have turned the soil's slow release fertz into fast release and overwhelmed the poor girls.

So, I did a PH test and it came out pretty squarely at 7.5 (again, see pic).

I gotz me some dolomite lime and am ready to go, but I'm wondering... if all the lime's going to do is stabilise the PH to 7.0, I'm wondering if there's a point to applying it at all? Isn't the ideal PH around 5.0-5.5?

Can you please advise me, brethren?
