The Australian geneticist, Scott Blakey, founder of Mr. Nice Seed Bank, finds himself imprisoned for the last two months in Medrisio Switzerland) accused by the authorities of the canton of Tesino for marijuana trafficking.

 

Scott Blakey is not a drug trafficker. He has always dedicated himself as a cultivator and breeder and in discovering new cannabis seed varieties. He is known internationally as an activist, including here in Spain. He has taught many cultivators some of his secrets in the hybridisation of distinct varieties of marijuana. We ask for a solitary union throughout the cannabis community, and the world, to help petition for the collection of signatures asking for his immediate release.

Back in May 2003

....One of the worlds most respected and prolific cannabis growers has been taken into custody by the Italian Police and it looks like they may extradite him to Switzerland to face massive cultivation charges...

 

...Thru the grapevine of close friends growers and breeders I have heard the bad news just a few days ago and we are all devastated to learn of this. Shantibaba has been growing in Switzerland legally for many years for Genebank Technologies....and I have had the pleasure of visiting him every year for the past few years to marvel at the sheer scale of what he had accomplished...

 

...Now he sits in an Italian jail awaiting almost certain extradition to Switzerland where the charges are stacked against him and it is a possibility that he could face a sentance of up to 20 years in jail!!....Swiss Police have found well over 100,000 plants.....many kilo's of trimmed and packed cannabis and a large ammount of cash...

 

Before working in Switzerland where he made seeds for the 'Mr Nice' seed company he was working with 'The Greenhouse' in Holland and before that he grew many plants in Australia.

I knew him as a friend and fellow cannabusinessman. All of our best wishes go out to him and his family at this time....

Yeah Im sure he wasnt trafficking any drugs at all , thats like the whole point of the man isnt it, he grows alot of fucking bud and a bit of seed on the side, co-founder of a seedbank with Howard Marks and Neville, I'd find it hard to believe he wasn't trafficing drugs.

 

None the less he's a fucking legend, and In my opinion the most talented breeder out there by so far its not funny, I hope all goes well for him and he can release his amazing genetics again for all those who haven't tried, i know i wish I could've snapped up some Neville's Haze but its all gone now. Might have to get some devil or spice or la nina.

Well I have my own opinions of Shanti, and they aren't good by any stretch of the imagination. And I don't move any faster to help a person because he's "famous".

 

But I'll sign the petition, not because I like his work, or even like him; but because grass shouldn't carry 20 year jail terms for any quantity. Shouldn't carry a jail term of any period.

 

Jail should be for people that would make life dangerous if they were left free in society. Shanti doesnt pose such a threat, nor does anyone that simply grows or breeds pot, legend or novice.

 

I'll sign, to protest the law.
