police tackle drug driving

Recommended Posts

Although this short clip has people influenced by other drugs, the story takes us on a sniffer patrol and gives a bit of insight into the 'hard criminals' raging on our public transport systems who hold just a few grams of personal stash.

this attack on people's personal libities; chasing after people with sniffer dogs for a few grams of any drug is saddening and a waste of money, they rarely catch dealers. Turning honest people into crims. How is society meant to respect police when they are acting like thugs, ruining people's chances of better jobs for a gram of weed. if it wasnt serious id laugh at how ridiculous it all is?

I commented on the video saying that drug driving is bad but allowing organised crime gangs to recieve billions of dollars every year is worse. the comment has still not been published.

If it's about drug DRIVING as per the subject, then I totally agree - at least as much as I don't think people should drive under the influence.

(Nor do I think it's really the smart thing to smoke while driving, but another matter there)

I'm not even going to go into how stupid driving under the influence of anything ELSE would be, I'll just go with weed.

There's always people talking about how it's not necessary to focus upon, because they drive high all the time, and have never crashed etc etc...I've know people to say the same, and I've been in a car with them and simply stupid mistakes happen...not to mention the parallels between how both those folks and drink-drivers think they'll be alright, I'm sure most everyone does until they have a near miss or splatter themselves, their friends, or a bystander.

Sure, alcohol might fuck up *more* of your co-ordination but weed also has it's effects.

Might sound silly but you can over-concentrate on weed, taking attention off other factors to focus on a singular element.

You get vague, you have a wondering thought process, and the fact of the matter is, it's a mind altering substance - they say not to drive/operate heavy machinery while on some medications, and most of the time those types of medications don't effect me remotely as much as weed does.

As for simply transporting our drug of choice...well as per usual I don't, nor will I ever support the use of "manufactured" chemical drugs so whatever, but in terms of that in which I have a personal perspective, weed:

I agree that a person should be able to transport it discreetly on public transport without the fear of being tagged with a gram or two - this is not only a waste of police time and resources but it's also going to end up (like the OP said) getting people that wouldn't otherwise have a criminal record, to have one.

Anything drugs related is likely to make you look like a fucking junkie on paper, and I simply do not agree that the personal use and consumption of weed is even something that anyone can or should be charged for...

As long as it's discreet and not taken out in the presence of the other passengers (because really that much lack of caution is just foolish) I don't think it should be a problem at all, and no I don't think in any way sniffer dogs are warranted.

As well as this, I think that people transporting weed should at least have the respect and basic smarts to do *something* about containing the smell...it's not that hard really. You can do things that might not get past a dog, but certainly won't be noticed by everyone else on the train - at least take measures to make yourself less of a target.

Bigger amounts?

Personally I think if you've got more'n a 50, drive or organise a bloody lift, it's not that hard. Pay a mate some petrol money to take you where you want to go...with what train tickets cost these days I'm sure this is a possibility in most cases...nothing more personally offensive to me as a weed user than some idiot obviously carrying an ounce or more stinking up an entire train carriage with it, giving even more a negative perception of weed users.

Don't be dumb. Get a lift.

If you're transporting it in a car, then I don't think there's any issues at all - your car (or friends car), all parties involved acting responsibly and driving safely, then whatever...again though some kind of smell containment might be prudent, after all, if you get pulled over for an RBT and you wind down the window when you're entire car reeks like fresh bud, you're probably going to get done for it.

Some good points from both J and Smashed. I can drive stoned, very well. As well as if I'm not. However, I would not trust myself in a car with one beer under my belt. Not one. Nor anyone else, regardless or not if you're one of those dickheads that think that a carton or two hardly has an effect on them.

As for Police targeting drug driving, it is a LOT more expensive process than doing an RBT. Cost of a plastic straw is a lot less expensive than a drug test to both purchase, process, and pursue in court. And the last time I saw any Government budgets, the coppers around my state get two fifths of fuck all from the fucktard minister controlling the purse strings.

If you've got ganja or alcohol in your system when you step into the car, you do it KNOWINGLY that there is a 50% chance of you getting your car impounded pending your court hearing. We've all done it at some stage. Some of us get caught. There's only a lucky few that get through a lifetime without getting caught. It's up to you to assess if the outcome is worth the risk.

Anyway, my pepper steak is sizzling, and the wife is calling. Good evening my friends. :bongon:

I have had so much weed in the past 10 years that I'd need a 6 month break before driving! If I get drug tested I'd be busted for sure regardless of whether or not i smoked the day of driving! I'm not experienced with driving on other drugs, just weed and alcohol. From personal experience, drink driving is a very bad idea. Bleedingly obvious... I did it once and am very ashamed to admit that. However, I don't believe that weed is an impairment to driving. When driving stoned, I find that speeding is an effort. I am also mildy paranoid. When I was a younger driver my mum pointed out that I may be a good driver, but others on the road may not be. This tends to be forefront in my mind when I'm driving ripped... not a bad thing. Also i know for a fact that my reflexes are not impaired... many hours of billies and X-box are my proof! :bongon:

In Amsterdam, weed driving is not even policed because they know over there it's not a huge problem.

In a nutshell, driving while impaired in anyway isn't good of course, but is being stoned really an impairment? (unless you've smoked heaps and your about to doze off on the couch...)
