I soak my seeds in a cup of water until they sink, usually about a day, then moist paper towells on top of my hot water unit. I don't think I've ever had a seed not germinate.

I soak mine too, overnite in distilled water. It's wierd, but I moved to a new place about 3 years ago. Since getting here I've germed about 30 seeds at least and have only had one male. I was praying to get a male out of some white widow I sprouted last. But 4 out of 4 were females. I think it's some strange point where longditude and latitude of the earth cross in my place. Mobile phone reception is pretty bad too.

I have had 100% sucess with my last few germinating sessions with really good bag seed that came from a white widow cross. Out of a dozen seeds they all germinated within a few days and all turned out female, probably just lucky but i was stoked. I found the best was was to put the seed in a small rockwool cube under tri-phosphor fluros on 18/6 and to make sure the cube stays very wet until the babies pop up. They have been some of the healthiest seedlings i have ever had and makes me want to always germinate seeds instead of cloning.

I think you'll find the majority of bagseed will be female as a lot of it comes from a few male flowers in the buds. Not necessarily full on hermies, just a few here and there in what should otherwise be a female plant. Of course, this doesn't apply to all bagseed, just the ones I've heard about, and it has no scientific basis.

I've seen some 'new world' hybrids that show a few male flowers if you leave them in bloom long enough. Stinky Pete used to reckon the plants would eventually sense there were no males around and put out a few flowers to pollinate itself, just to preserve it's species. I think we're lucky women can't do this.

yeah for sure harvest your buds a little late and you should get some seeds in your bags (ive had white widow females produce seed this way but havent planted them - didn't even notice any male flowers) which will tend to bo hermies - if you're observant and careful you can pull off male flowers before they pollinate.

hi all thnx for all the replys and some good techniques yeh the rockwool would prob be really good but the paper tow methos is all house hold items

yeh i barely get males aswell i hope i get a couple this season casue i wanna do some breeding
