Victoria :) few questions!

Recommended Posts

First of all can i say thank god theres a place pretty much dedicated to Aussies :)

I wish i found you all years ago, and am looking forward to chatting to you guys !

Ive been busy prepairing my biggest grow yet down here in Victoria, im gonna impress you all this year.

My main question is what could be the earliest time I could put plants out without stressing or stunting their growth down here?

I have some good lights that i can use indoors until around the last week of september, then i have two greenhouses i can pop the plants out into for a few weeks...

But is the end of september too early to be putting them out in the greenhouses?

Or would i be better waiting further into october?

I have a few new strains im trying this year

- Moby dick

- Early skunk

- Durban poison

- Purple widow

- Easy sativa

and maybe hollands hope

and have room for one more strain if anyone knows a good one for Vic :)

had a few in mind maybe blue cheese or white russian...

ANYWAYS i talk way too much, thanks for reading and any answers .

Cant wait for it to start warming up!!!

Take it easy... or any way you can get it ;)

You would probably be fine throwing the plants out early September depending on the specific climate of your area. By the end of September however the plants will be more than ready to go outside, don't wait for October! A general rule is plant on Grand final day, however this years Grand final is later than the previous, I believe its actually in the start of October so maybe don't follow that this year. Regardless of all this though if you were to plant from mid September to the start of December, you will still get a decent harvest.

By the way I grew blue cheese outdoors last year in a shit summer and she still produced some really good quality nice buds, had the most distinct smell of probably anything I have grown.

Take it easy

I'd say start time depends on whether you are in a warmer or cooler part of Victoria. But if you plant starting indoors and moving to a greenhouse, there shouldn't be any need to wait until October.

No need to restrict yourself to what the Dutch call "outdoor strains", they will all grow here.

The diagram shows the areas of the world where "indoor strains" can be grown successfully outdoors.

Thanks sargent ! For the last 5 years i have planted on grand final day its worked pretty good just had some slow/stunted growth for the first month or two every now and then. Could be to do with genetics though , this year ive chosen better :)

But sounds like a plan, ill get them established under lights for a few weeks then pop them out :)

And sweet , might get on the blue cheese then good quality is what im looking for .

And cheers lou lou, some of the dutch strains were given to me by a mate thats why i have them but its good to know i have more of a selection :)

Thanks for your input guys and nice to meet you, expect to hear a lot more from me over the next few months , im covered in cow shit at the moment after a productive day haha !

peace

Not really worth the effort Ballzac. Warm started seedlings out perform cold starts every time... the pic shows the difference in seedlings grown during winter, the larger plant is actually a week younger than the smaller.

Plant on left started indoors in warm conditions, plant on the right started outdoors in a cold frame.
