B) I'm not a know it all but I'd recommend either using a store bought fertiliser such as "Thrive" or your own compost. If you do decide to use thrive, only use a 1/2 strength and water that into your soil until it is quite moist through. This is then the perfect mixture to allow seedlings or cuttings to grow.

A little tip would be to add half a teaspoon of bi carbonate soda (Magnesium Sulfate) as this will give them a little extra umph! And if you're going to feed your babies on compost make sure that you water it in well otherwise you will burn some of the roots as compost will release nitrogen in large amounts which isn't too good for young saplings.

Hope this Helps!

Mix in some mushroom compost, blood and bone and some other organic stuff, if you want to use Miracle Grow, Thrive or similar wait until the plants are three or four weeks old and then only as a weak solution as they should have plenty of nutrients in the soil. If your soil is clay or peat based you will need gypsum for the clay soil and raised garden beds the soil is peat based then raised garden beds are a good way to go.
