fluro lights

Recommended Posts

Having an electrical background i never hesitate to buy second hand stuff if i can check it out properly and plug it in and see how it works. A lot of the time the bonus in buying second hand lights is you score good shades with the setup and not some crappy shades you get standard from some shops. I guess it is all preferance... i rekon why pay 175 bucks when i can pay 70 and spend the other 100 on good nutes, meter, another light or whatever...

Good advice Weekprick, good to still see you are around...

I'm with you ozmade, i have scored some fabulous second hand gear that has been working for years no problems. Ozdaz, just because something is second hand doesn't mean it is shitty or "someones problem"??, especially wehn it comes to hydro gear. People upgrade from 400's to 600's to 1000 watters, they stop growing cos they have been busted, they don't have cash to continue, they move and have no place to grow... many different reasons. Besides if you drop water on your ballast will the hydro shop still give you your guarantee?... i think not.

hmmm I'm glad I read this thread, but buying ebay is still buying online and means you have to pay before you can test the gear, plus there is the chance that your purchase could remain on record. Nothing against what Gazzas selling, just I'm a little paranoid and I'm always worrying that the feds want to bust me, throw me in jail just cuz they couldn't find any smack dealers that day.

but uh yeah I'll be hitting up cashie's and the trading post, at least to see what's out there.

el badass i hear ya :D ebay is dodgy but thats why they have feed back ;-) my light got sold for $51 ;) oh well it was pointless me keeping it

if u end up buying dodgy stuff off ebay they pay you up to $500 or something i cant remember..... and the government aint ganna spend thousands of dollars just to raid your house for some personal smoke are they? if they do they are as pathetic as i thought ;)

el badass when your out looking for a light make sure u can take off the cover from the control box to inspect the internals age, wires, ignitor, ballast, cap make sure its all in good condition and make sure u get the right bulb with it also keep an eye out for a built in FUSE! either internal or external it'll stop your house from burning down

here are two pictures the 250hps has the internal fuse fitted and the 175mh is external all high quality gear has fuses.... these two control boxes are from www.accenthydroponics.com bankstown in sydney

ok here is my new 250hps internal fuse fitted cost me $120

There aren't any fluoro growers here that I know of

Im sure plenty of folk who played around with shitty flouros and grew plants more resembling sugar cane than dope here though, I know I did, I even messed around with them blue incadescent light bulbs and a few heat lamps.

If you going to the trouble of growing weed indoors the whole cycle, than use a HID for sure, usually get a better crop turnaround and yearly yield from growing a few smaller plants than one or 2 big ones each crop as you dont have to veg as long.

Good Luck mate.
